I hope they hurry up and release it.

I've got a computer from 2006 sitting upstairs I want to try it out on. (For the tech people: AMD Opteron 2.3ghz dual core, 4GB DDR1-400 RAM, nVidia 7800GT 256mb graphics card, Windows XP 64-bit edition)

Before I got this computer, I had windows XP.  The problem with XP, it is not supported by most sites and there is fewer updates.  I had about the same computer and it was great and I loved it, but when the sims3 games and a couple of other games started going haywire on me and I would even have problems on the web, I figured it was time for a new computer.  I hope you get to play on it and I hope it works for you.  Sims4 might play on the older computers, because if you think about it, there is not going to be as much stuff to hog memory, so might play good on your computer.

Oh, this is just the old media server.

I use it for storing music on and running a server version of minecraft. :) That's literally -all- it does.

My actual gaming PC is: Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.9Ghz, 6GB DDR3-1600 RAM and a Radeon 5870. ;)

Demo equals awesome! I was one of the lucky few and it was amazing! I made so many people. Can't wait for the game!

Well I finally have the demo (my data bundle may never forgive me but it was so worth it!). Unfortunately I've only been able to create 4 sims (including my sim-self) because my mom is off work for this week due to a torn tendon in her ankle so she has been annexing my laptop! I'm very happy with the demo and can't wait to be able to afford the complete game!

I am...underwhelmed.

Maybe I just have a terrible mouse, but when I'm trying to use the new...slider? Nothing moves, my sim just spins in place. When I go into detail mode for the face, trying to make the cheeks a bit pudgier is an adventure in frustration. Or the nose a bit more hooked.

I can, however, give the sim pinprick irises and pupils.

Also, I thought you could use the mouse to make the rest of the body bigger or smaller. I just get two sliders to the left of the sim for overall body size and muscle definition. Again, when I try to make the sim have amazing childbearing hips, she spins in place instead.

Maybe I need to go find a manual for the CAS demo...

Hover your mouse over your sim's body itself (and face if you're on the head) and you should start seeing arrows and grids which indicate areas you can click and drag.  It doesn't really use sliders anymore except for just the two you see on body.

:( I did that, and that's when they decided to spin instead of change.

I'll give it another go tomorrow - I was so frustrated tonight that I jumped into World of Warcraft and picked flowers instead.

I'm curious - are you using an actual mouse or a touchpad on a laptop?  I've read that people have a hard time with a touchpad on this and they're recommending you hook up an actual mouse.  If you are using a mouse, it sounds like you're clicking on the background a bit rather than on the sim.  For instance, on the hips, you don't have to grab the edge of her hip, just click right in the middle of her hips and drag right (which will make them wider).

I also had this, and was rather disappointed at first. I play on a laptop with touchpad and it took me a while to get used to the controls. After a few hours of playing I was able to manipulate the bodies with much more ease. That's just my personal experience, though.

Yeah, you -really- need an external mouse on a laptop.

I normally use an external mouse on mine and turn the touchpad off anyway because it annoys me while typing.

Shirin, I had a problem with spinning the first time I tried using the demo. In fact, my sim wouldn't stop spinning, so I had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to exit. But the second time, I didn't have any problems. I do use a laptop, without a mouse, and my touchpad isn't as responsive, however.

I am having fun with this thing but, is it just me or do the faces not look symmetrical? The guys' shoulders also aren't at the same height, which makes it difficult to discern what the build actually is.
