The dangers/challenges of marrying an NPC
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:01:15 AM »
IDK if there is a thread like this already, but I thought it would be fun to share the trials, tribulations and joys of marrying NPCs/Townies.
My first marriage came with the absent-minded trait, which wasn't revealed until after the wedding. I have to change that out if I'm not going to be going nuts over it.
My other sim just got married and none of his traits were particularly bad, it's the lifetime wish. They just got married, he's got the "Heartbreaker" lifetime wish.  >:( Thankfully the LTR to change it is cheap. No wonder he was so hard to catch!

I think the biggest problem I've had is having them age up to elder immediately after the wedding.

I've been lucky to not have that happen. At least elder males can still have children, you're out of luck if it's an elder female.

When all the facial sliders are in the middle. That happens with most NPCs, as well as most townies who move to town later in game. It's not ugly, just boring.

Ok, I know what you mean.  But why is it called "pudding"?

I actually have no idea. That's just what I've heard it been called.

"Pudding face" originated as a general term for sims in TS3 and their soft features, usually used negatively by people more used to the harsher look of TS2. How it got to be used for generic NPCs is anyone's guess, but somehow the term mutated into that.

Off-topic, but it deserved an explanation.

I don't have too many bad stories about marrying townies. I usually avoid service NPCs and those aging issues, and my sims usually get a good picture of a sim's traits before they get married (hurray for the Observant LTR!).
