I hope you can...

I know you can play with genetics to create a brother/sister though, so that's very cool :) I have my 2 ready for playing.

Ok, I am somewhat relieved after reading the positives thread. Like the negatives thread, there are some that don't exactly belong - they say 'emotions' but I still read 'moodlets'. Some of those things are just changing the user interface - or so it seems until we play and see. The same goes for the push and pull CAS - it's a user interface change (I won't say improvement because everyone likes to do things differently. Some people might prefer visible sliders). They say woodworking skill, I read sculpting.

There are definitely some things on there that make me feel excited - things I wish Sims 3 had, like  search function for buy mode, and being able to edit houses with sims in them, without having to evict them first. Most of all finding out what triggers wishes whims - only extensive play of the Sims 3 helped to learn what triggered certain wishes.

I'm still very disappointed at the loss of so many creative tools, but I guess I'm going to have to count on CC recolours and CC landscaping objects to help out. It looks like I will be eagerly awaiting a package editor that allows us to make those things, and for now my enthusiasm is restored. A little.

I don't like the graphics I think the sims in sims 3 look better that sims on sims 4.

Just thought some of you might like to know that 'BeyondSims' have a really good article with short videos all about TS4. It is a balanced and thoughtful article, in my opinion, and might help those of you still deciding. Also 'simslegacychallenge.com' has quite a few indepth articles that explain many of the features. Not sure if it's ok to link to them but if you google their names you'll find them easily. (BeyondSims has a link on this sites front page)  :)

@KhaineGB I've created a sim for each career path that I most want to try and now I'm trying to figure out which two I want to start with. You're very organised!

I've done a brother/sister pair. The sister wants to be a criminal, and the brother wants to be a programmer. :) I will likely do more sims later for the other paths, same as you.

Might boot up the demo later and take some screenshots of them both. Right now, FTL is eating my time.

I've been thinking more about my first sim.  I might make her a teen instead and add parents.  In my experience with Sims 3, your young adult definitely gets a boost in their career by working on skills during childhood and teens.  I'm not sure I want to go all the way to child, although I'm considering it.  What do you guys think?

Pinstar wrote a review on how careers where reworked in S4. If you haven't read it, it's can be found at simslegacychallenege.com. This might help you out with your final decision.

I found the article you mentioned:

http://www.simslegacychallenge.com/sims-4-creators-camp-careers-and-school/

This is an excellent article!  I checked all of the comments at the end of the article and they were all pretty positive.  The few negative comments were very similar to those we've had here.  Nothing offensive and no EA bashing.  It was a very good read.  I think I will go with starting as a teen which will give me the opportunity to make friends as well as start on my musical skill prior to becoming a young adult.  This might be fun for people to read in my blog as well to see what's up with teens.

I also found a new review this morning from Sims Community:

The Sims 4 Review: What's different from The Sims 3?

Some of you might find it useful if you're still on the fence either way.

I wonder if they are going to remove pretty much all the Sims 3 expansion pack stuff or at least put a light sprinkling of stuff from the expansion packs in the base game like they did with Sims 2 to 3?

Nope. There are quite a few things from the good list that are EP content :)

Dellena, you might consider a TS4 version of Schipperke's Orphanage Project or my College Daze (both found in the Projects section). I'm thinking of coming up with a new version of College Daze once I find out whether you can create a household with one adult and several unrelated teens. The idea would be to have them graduate when they've maxed a skill or two. If you save them to your library before they leave, then you have them as a somewhat skilled starter.

Thanks for sharing those articles, Dellena. I am particularly interested in how the careers have changed. I like the idea of my sim having to tick the boxes in order to obtain a promotion instead of just increasing the performance bar.

Again, I am sad at losing CASt but in order to have a more stable game I am more than willing to make the trade. With just over 3 weeks until the UK release, I am beginning to get excited! (I work full time so I am getting the game delivered to my parents so I can pick it up after work, take it home and play!)  ;D

Here's a great little article about multitasking - which is one of the new features I'm really looking forward to and it's brand new to the Sims.

I like the sounds of the multitasking. Thanks for posting the link Dellena.
