You put it up before I did :)

I did have one other tidbit, and that is SimGuruAzure confirmed the CAS Demo, when released, will be free.

Ooops sorry Bri  ;D I saw it mentioned over at Mod The sims and fully expected it to already be posted here but it wasn't and I couldn't contain myself.

I do look forward to trying it out but I have to say I didn't particularly like that blog post much, I'd have rather done without walk styles if it meant we got toddlers, seems a lot of animation time was spent on those where to me they are a bonus if you can call them that whereas toddlers are a part of life and should have been of greater priority than a funny walk. For me my sims behaviour to each other, their actions and reactions to the world around them give them personality not how they walk, but maybe once I see it in CAS or on that gameplay video it might make more sense, I just think they will get old fast and possibly annoying after some time, but that's just my personal opinion.

I'm looking forward to trying the CAS demo when it comes out. I hope there is a way to save sims you create with the demo to add to your game when it comes out.

A little delay, but the answer is yes.

Someone gave this question to SimGuruGrant, and he answered via Twitter:

Kiss The Ring:  Demo will be great if we can save the families for future use. I hate waste.  :)
Grant Rodiek‏@SimGuruGrant:  You can share them to the gallery.

I'm actually looking forward to Sims 4.  I remember when Sims 2 came out and it was like WOW... then I unistalled everything to do with Sims 2 and rushed to be outside Virgin Megastore for my pre-ordered copy of Sims 3 when the shop opened and ... yuck... I didn't like it at all.. but luckily, I was too lazy to re-install my Sims 2 or I would have missed out on so much!  I sometimes read stories from Sims 2 and realize that I have forgotten so many features from Sims 2 and I have a feeling that I am going to do exactly the same with Sims 3. So yep, I'm going to be brave and uninstall everything from Sims 3 the night before I download Sims 4 so I can give it the same good go as I did with the Sims 3! ;D

  • What's wrong with being different?
I'm extremely excited for the sims 4.

When I first saw the CAS trailer where it showed cultural diversity, body manipulation, and things like disconnected hats and boots over pants, I was already into the sims 4. When I saw the build mode trailer, I was head-over-heels, because I am really bad at building (I end up using blueprints a lot.  :) ) The day after, I had pre-ordered the digital deluxe version through Origins.

I love how they are planning on making it run on multiple types of computers. I only have a laptop because I need a computer that can be mobile, but it lags a little on multi-generation games in sims 3. I'm hoping that that won't be the case in the sims 4 since it's usable on lower end computers!

I was a little upset when I found out there would be no toddlers, but I usually end up aging them up as soon as they are taught anyways. I actually never cared for CAST that much, since it only made my game lag more, and I would spend hours in CAS to make everything color coordinated. It was always faster to just use a pre-set option. As for pools, I never really used them anyways, and actually got bugged when in one of my ISBI's, the uncontrollable sims would go swim until they almost drowned.  :P

What I really hate though, isn't about the game itself. It's all of the negative comments and replies that are on a bunch of the forums I have read to find out about new sims 4 things. In fact, it was reading those comments that made me down about the game for a few days, not the fact that we wouldn't have toddlers, CAST, or pools. This forum is a safe haven, that is for sure.   ;D

Over all, I can't wait. Since I got the pre-order on origins, I can do the pre-load on August 29th, which means right after classes on September 2nd, I can install and play! I'm tempted to play the CAS demo when it comes out, but I think I'm going to wait until I have the full game, so that I get the full experience when I first play. I want to meet Bella and Mortimer Goth!

My real question is, what time period is this game in compared to the other sims games. Sims 3 is about fifty years before sims 2, and sims is only like twenty years behind sims 2, but with Bella and Mortimer being Adults (Young Adults?) in this game, is it basically the same time zone as sims? I'm really interested to see that, and find out if there are any other recurring characters in Willow Creek from previous games!

Sorry for the long post, but a lot of things I wanted to say that I didn't dare say on other forums for the fear that I would get called dumb for being too 'positive'.
I don't really care about how you run your life, so please don't try and run mine.

Call me Melody, 'cause calling me Pure sounds weird and PurestofMelodies takes forever!!

I'm sure one of the Guru's stated it was an alternate reality type deal, so not before or after any previous sims game, which in a way goes along with Pam's thinking of it being a completely new game, any canon is out the window pretty much.

I'm not sure that's a bad thing really, I play mostly in Riverview where you have the teenage Bob and Betty Newbie and Skip Broke who in sims 2 was husband to Brandy daughter of Bob and Betty, well of course in sims 3 unless you play a part in it they wont even marry and have a daughter and by the time they do Skip is much older than their child, In some ways these back stories don't make much sense so an alternate reality theory helps with the randomness of it all.

I have heard mention of Don Lothario and the Caliente sisters, I think they were shown at E3, returning characters are nice but I don't mind if it's all new sims to be honest.

Welcome to the forum!

It's a totally different timeline, one of the Guru's confirmed at some point. I mean, it's not tied in to any of the last 3 games at all -- ie not 25 years after TS2, for example. I'll see if I can dig up a link.

EDIT a few moments later: Got it. Sarah Holding confirmed on twitter:

Quote
Question:  Can you confirm if TS4 is set before or after TS2 in the timeline?  Or by how many years? —Skar
A:  The Sims 4 features an all new timeline, but still has all your favorite Sim families!  —Sarah Holding

Q:  New timeline?  As in events of TS1, TS2 and TS3 didn’t happen so it is in an alternate universe?  Or what? —Tensimoles
A:  The timeline got pretty crowded with TS1, TS2, and TS3, trying to fit another game into the timeline would be tough. ... I would call it an alternate universe…it was the most flexible way for us to keep all your favorite Sims in TS4. —Sarah Holding

Bri, Thanks for the response on saving sims with the demo. It'll be nice to be able to have some sims ready to load and go when I get the game. If not I would have probably spent the first day just playing around in CAS and not of seen much else of the game, Now I can get that out of the way with the demo. :)

I like the AU idea as far as the canon of the preexisting characters goes a lot.  I've gotten rather fond of a lot of the characters in the Sims 3 (I never played the Sims 1 or 2) and if it had been in either of those timelines or later, pretty much all of my favorites would be dead.  Now, if the characters I like aren't in the Sims 4, I can just make them myself and play them if I want, without feeling like I'm mucking up a timeline.

Speaking of dead characters, I've read there's a rumor that there are no ghosts in the Sims 4.  I know a guru said "no supernaturals" were in it, but there was a tweet after that which said they thought they were talking about the types in the Supernatural EP of the Sims 3.  Have there been any tombstones in screen shots?  I don't remember seeing any, or any mentions of a graveyard type lot.  If so, I wonder what happens when Sims die.  Do they just disappear without any kind of grave marker?

Some coder who designed the official site must be hidden prankster. I click the link, and because I'm not in eglish-speaking country, it adds a part of URL on its own to switch to my language....and fails, because the rest stays in english, and such page doesn't exist...
fortunately, switching to UK helped.

I just got my early access key for CAS and will try to play around and share some screenshots and information ASAP. It took them until this year to put me on the mailing list for upcoming Sims stuff, but I'm glad they finally recognized me that way.

From the system requirements leaked for Create-A-Sim, I think the game requirements will be very similar, if not the same.

The graphics card I don't see changing... at all. The RAM requirements may go up a little, and the hard drive requirements DEFINITELY will.

My reason for saying this, is the Create-A-Sim demo Sims 2 pre-order customers got (think I still have my disc somewhere) had system requirements on the back. Aside from the full game using more HDD space, the requirements remained EXACTLY the same. :)
