I keep trying to ask on Twitter to the Sim Guru's if you can share a created Sim with just a specific person instead of the entire community (example: making a self Sim to share between actual friends and not public with my name for the entire gallery to see)

Has anyone heard anything about this that perhaps I may have missed?

Watching today's broadcast - when they kept trying to get the couple sims to Woo Hoo, and the guy kept only using the guy, instead of switching to the girl, it was infuriating. He switched to her to see her mood, then went back to the guy. I kept yelling JUST PLAY AS THE GIRL NOW at my screen!

Notes from Today's LiveStream

The hosts today were SimGuruMatt and SimGuruShan.

We get to see more of Live Mode again today. We start off in Willow Creek with two young adult females who are sisters that were imported from the Gallery, Sara (Foodie, Hot Headed, Self Assured and Dastardly)  and Rebecca (Cheerful, Creative, Goofball and Gregarious) Hudson. As an aside, this is what we had yesterday in terms of traits with the Malakai brothers, these sims are young and female instead.

The sisters are sent to a different lot and the SimGurus choose the Rattlesnake Juice Bar in Oasis Springs again (~13s to travel there as a group). SimGuruShan realizes that we saw the same lot yesterday so tells SimsGuruMatt to finish up the interactions at the bar so the sisters can move to a different lot.

The sisters along with 2 other Sims they met at the bar are sent to the Oasis Springs museum. (I can't see the name of the lot because the camera with the Gurus is in the way). Multitasking is shown again when a Sim is painting and Rebecca approaches to talk to her. The Sim continues to paint and talk at the same time.

After only a few minutes at the museum, the sisters are sent home to get ready for a party they are going to throw. It seems like they went to community lots so they could make quick friends to invite to the party at home.

Plan a Social Event Options
House Party $100
Dinner Party $100
Wedding $100
Birthday Party $100

There is a new option called "Host Prestige Social Event" that has the description "Prestige Events give you Goals and exciting Rewards when they are completed." This option gives you goals to complete while your party is going on and gives you rewards if you meet them. You can also receive medals depending on the success of your party (Gold, Silver, Bronze). A Dinner Party is decided upon and has the description "Host an incredible evening of culinary delights and mouth watering table talk. Hire a renowned caterer or show off your own skills! Gold Level rewards include a new kitchen item." You also have to choose one of your own Sims to host the party (it's unclear at this time what this entails, if anything. ETA: later on, Rebecca gets a Confident Emotional state from hosting a successful party)

Once the guests are invited, the Goals for this Prestigious Dinner Party are listed on the left hand side of the screen. There are 4 Goals and an unfilled bar across the top of the menu with 3 separate parts, I assume for the medal status. i.e. if you fill all three bars, you get a Gold Medal and the associated rewards.

Main Goal: Call Guests to Meal 0/1 (Description: Your Guests want ultimate yumminess. Cook something fresh after they arrive. Pre-made food just won't cut it.)

Other mini Goals include: Have Sims Listen to Music at the Same Time 0/3, Host Socialize with Guests 0/4, Make a Group Meal 0/1.

The Sisters automatically change into their party outfits and the SimGurus have Rebecca change her outfit at the dresser. We get a glimpse of more full body party outfits we don't have access to in the Create A Sim demo as well.

Rebecca is sent to socialize with Tylor Morse and Sarah is sent downstairs to make the meal to satisfy the Main Goal of the party (Call Guests to Meal)

Something I haven't touched upon is the Cooking Menu. You can choose how many servings to make from this menu as well as what you want to cook. There are single, family size (4) and party size ( 8 ) servings that you can cook all at once.

Sarah is instructed to make a Party Size Autumn Salad, the perennial favorite of many Sims and Rebecca starts chatting up Tylor. As Rebecca is doing this, the mini Goal Hosts Socialize with Guests lights up and a little ditty plays as the counter goes from 0/4 to 4/4 and the empty bar at the top fills a tiny tiny bit. The mini Goal that is completed is replaced with a new mini Goal of Tell Stories 0/3.

The Twitch chat wants to see a pregnancy test but the Sims need to Woohoo and Rebecca is instructed to do romantic interactions with Tylor but they are rejected. As this is going on, we see the mini Goal, Make a Group Meal, flash and the ditty announces your success at completing that goal as well. It is replaced by the mini Goal, Have Sims Drink at the Same Time 0/3. Rebecca continues to chat/flirt with Tylor and we switch to Sarah in the kitchen.

Sarah has finished making the party size Autumn Salad and uses the interaction "Call Guests to Meal" the Main Goal of our Prestigious Dinner Party. As soon as she does that, the Main Goal flashes and the medal bar at the top of the party menu fills up halfway. Note, the Main Goal is not replaced when it is completed.

Since Rebecca was unsuccessful in chatting up Tylor, the SimGurus decide to download a new male Sim from the Gallery. A male named Nelson Tarso is selected. Sarah is instructed to chat and flirt with Nelson in an attempt to get the WooHoo interaction to appear. The Tell Stories mini Goal is completed at this time and the medal bar fills up ⅔ of the way, granting the hosts a Silver Medal when the party is finished. These goals & medals don't seem that difficult to accomplish. The SimGurus are not even trying to accomplish them and they are being completed just by the Sims chatting and interacting amongst themselves offscreen, apparently. No new mini Goal replaces the Tell Stories mini Goal either.

The flirting with Nelson fails and he goes off to bed. Sarah finds Tylor Morse still at the party and sits down to play chess and flirt with him. As the chess & flirting is going on, the Dinner Party finishes and a silver medal pops up in the middle of the screen with the text "Dinner Party Complete! Silver Medal Earned!" The reward for the Silver medal is a "decorative pot rack" that is placed in the household inventory but we aren't shown what it looks like.

SimGurus decide to download a married couple from the Gallery and try to get them to WooHoo, Ashley and Christopher Whitwick. Since they are already a couple, there are different Romantic options available to them: Kiss Cheek, Ask Risque Question, Blow a Kiss, Compliment Appearance, Embrace, Express Fondness, Flirt, & Hold Hands. The Whitwick's go through a bunch of romantic interactions in order to get the WooHoo option to show up and then get tired and go to bed.

The night is sped through since everyone is sleeping. In the morning, Nelson and Rebecca are instructed to chat/flirt with each other to get the WooHoo option to appear. Since this household is having trouble WooHooing, the SimGurus decide to switch to the beloved Goth Family in Willow Creek.

Mortimer, Bella, Cassandra and Alexander Goth

The Goth house is appropriately themed in red & black. The Goths have many more romantic interactions and proceed through a bunch of them and finally the WooHoo interaction shows up. Note, you don't have to have the Sims in an object (bed, shower, hot tub) for them to get the WooHoo interaction anymore. When the WooHoo interaction was chosen, the Goths were standing in their living room and then proceeded up to their bedroom, hopped in bed and WooHooed. The Try for Baby interaction is attempted next, as the Twitch chat wants to see a Pregnancy Test in action. Since the SimGurus are embarrassed to watch the Goths WooHoo again on a live stream, they switch to Cassandra and Alexander and showcase some of the unique interactions that teens and kids have between them, including "Complain About Parents"

We switch back to Bella and Mortimer and Bella is instructed to Take a Pregnancy Test by clicking on the toilet. The pregnancy test is positive, Bella is pregnant with a new little Goth! Then we watch the Goth family just interact with each other for some time. It's amusing & the interactions and animations are varied and some of them quite funny. Cassandra had the option to "Tell Fake Bad News" to Mortimer and she told him someone died (a gravestone popped up in the talk bubble above her head) and Mortimer started crying, then Cassandra laughed at him, obviously saying "GOTCHA, Dad!" It actually made me laugh out loud.  Bella then "Shares Big News" with Mortimer and tells him she is pregnant. They are both very happy. Bella then tells Cassandra the big news and she is excited too. The same goes for Alexander, he is happy for a new baby brother or sister. Nothing much new happens after this, the Goths interact with each other and we basically watch them.

Twitch chat asks for the Gurus to build a baby room and the Styled Playroom is chosen and inserted into the house. It has 4 very large stuffed animals, a doll house, a play table, a toy chest and some toys on the floor. Alexander can hug and talk to the large stuffed animals (the stuffed animals are as large as kids).

The Gurus try to kill Mortimer to show off Death by Embarrassment, SimGuruMatt says that if you make a Sim pee himself then have them walk in on someone taking a shower, they can die from that. It didn't work with Mortimer and Cassandra because they are married and the privacy between married couples is different than non married couples.

Then the live stream ends!

I'm just catching up here today, and I have found a few things that I like
1) You can in fact make a split level house, if only for the ground level. CFE is going to need a rework to function in sims 4, since you can't alter the terrain. Yet. I remain hopeful.
2) You can learn charisma in conversation and don't have to read a book or take a lesson to start learning the skill;
3) They've mixed up the LTRs a little with traits and potions from Sims 3;
4) splining reticulations (teehehe :D);
5) Now I feel like pancakes :D;
*6) You can pick food up from community lots and put it in your inventory :D
*7) Tell a joke about Sunset Valley

*added after

The playthroughs have made me feel a bit more positive about the game.  EA/Maxis really should have been doing these demonstrations earlier.

They mentioned a drinking game at the start of yesterday's video. I think rather than drink for 'weird' I'm going to drink for every time they say 'intuitive' or 'tactile'. Urgh!

I noticed an option for sims to 'discuss interests'. Does anyone know if sims have interests like in Sims 2 again? Do they have an interests panel, or is it basically like the Sims 3 'chat' option?

After watching the livestream, I notice that the Sims are *incredibly* hard to keep in one spot.  One person sits down, another one sits, they switch chairs, all while having the same conversation.  Early on in the video, one Sim got a drink at a bar, was sitting and having a conversation and then moved to another chair at the bar, for no reason that I could see.  Later a sim started to play the violin and then put it back down a few moments later.   I hope that we can keep our Sims a bit more on-task than what I saw, or skilling might turn into a constant click fest of "No, go back to painting!"

One the positive side, I really like being able to have group meals with conversations again, instead of everyone wolfing down their plates with barely any interaction at all.
We hobbits are plain, quiet creatures. Adventures make one late for dinner.

@Annika  As far as I'm aware, there's no interests.

@Naria - I do not believe there is a method of making a shared creation private to certain individuals.  If you want to share your sim self, just wait until you know your friend is online and ready to import them into their game.  Upload your sim to the gallery, wait for them to download it and then remove it from the gallery.

@MissTrips - I'll be playing with low free will - it's the way I've always played.  So for me, my sims shouldn't be taking off and doing whatever.  With low free will, they will only perform autonomous actions if one of their needs drops very low.

The things I've seen the past few days have made me more excited about the game. One thing I liked is that you can click on the left side of the needs bar on the icon and it does make them go to the bathroom etc. I thought that was very handy.

One thing that concerned me a little was when they played the goth family and that mortimer had a really hard time going to the bathroom (even though they told them to do so) and eventually peed his pants. I thought that was weird. Also the constant sitting down. I thought this was annoying in the sims 3 too, sometimes they go sit down and stand up between a conversation. It bugged me a lot. I hope this will be better when the sims 4 comes out. Another thing I noticed, was that some interactions were hard to do. They just were removed again.

What i kinda like is that the romantic interations are more difficult. This may mean that it takes more time to get sims romantic with each other, which is a bit more realistic. Although if it is too hard, it may become annoying.

Overall I am very curious about the game! I really like the way the create-a-sim is working and from what I've seen of build mode: loving it!

6 more days to go...

This morning I was building a Victorian London-Style house. First, I built on a lot that was too small. Then it was too far to the right. Next, the roof wouldn't do what I wanted it to. Finally, after all that, I forgot the foundation.

I need The Sims 4 build mode!

@MissZoef - I agree about the romantic interactions.  In Sims 3, my sim could meet someone that day and build up the relationship to woo hoo that day.  The new way does seem more realistic unless you're just a gigolo looking to score each night with a stranger.  I'm sure there are traits that help with that but for a meaningful relationship, you need more.

Grant replied to my question about whether we can share Sims with just certain individuals. Not at the moment, but it is on their list. I hope it's easy to implement in a patch. I guess for my self Sim and the self Sim I made for my friend, I can change their last name to something generic for sharing them at the moment.

Or, save them to your library, and then zip the file and email it. Or if your friend lives near you, just share it on a flash drive.
