Marrying Distant Relatives
« on: July 03, 2014, 10:59:26 PM »
How closely related can you be to romance another sim?

For example, can a great-great-aunt technically marry her little grandson? I'm asking this because of my life states dynasty and fairy spares.

The closest relationship that can marry in the game are two first cousins, once removed.

Another way to think of it is that your sim can marry their great-uncle's child, or that they can marry their first cousin's child.

So no, the hypothetical great-great-aunt cannot marry back into the family.

Trip, I remeber reading Lena's Stars 4x4 Dynasty and her founder's second kid married her founder's great-great grandchild. So I guess that would work?

It actually shouldn't. Did Lena's family tree break?

I don't know. I guess I'd have to ask her.

This is my first post of the day so maybe I'm just not in the groove yet.  But this sounds very confusing.

Also, I changed the subject line to something a little less shocking, for lack of a better word.  :)

I believe the game counts 4 generations back down the tree.

So a great-great-granddad could marry their great-great-granddaughter (granddaughter would be 5th generation), but a great-granddad could not marry his great-granddaughter (granddaughter would be 4th generation)

I know the family tree stops counting after Aunt/Uncle. So a great-uncle could marry his great-niece.

Thanks Khaine. I have a fairy spare who is really pretty and I'd like to cure her and change her into a vampire later on because she's a rainboo.
