Game freezes if I have more than 100Mb of CC

If I have more than 100 MB in package files installed, it takes me forever to load the start screen and when I try to load a saved game or create a new sim, it takes 20 minutes for the game to load, then, when it does load, it freezes for minutes at a time, and is essentially unplayable. I have tried all the tips in the  thread addressing slow game issues. i.e. cleaning out DCBackup, etc, but nothing has worked? Suggestions?

FYI, I have all the extensions and stuff packs.

Welcome to our Forum.

If you're talking about third party content, yes, it can cause you trouble.  We always urge caution when using third party content (vs. content from the Sims 3 Store) because you just never know what you're getting and it could end up breaking your game.  I'm sorry, but my only suggestion is to remove the third party content and see how your game runs.

I know how it runs, which is just fine. My point is, that any 3rd party content I have cannot be over 100 MB or my game freezes as described above.

What are your system specs like? Reducing the loading time probably isn't going to happen... sorry, but 100MB of package files (which I'm assuming are LOTS of files) is going to kill your load times.

We might, however, be able to deal with the freezing issues.

My cousin came by and fixed my problem. He uninstalled everything, did a clean install, lowered my graphics settings, and I'm now running
over 1 GB of package files without a problem. He yells me that EA designed the game for a few specific graphics cards, so the game can run like
crap on PCs with a decent GPU like mine.
