Quick question: Does the Masterpiece portrait need to be painted by King/Queen or can a drone paint it?

Yes, one drone could paint another drone. But, then who is going to paint the painting drone? ;) I think that's why most players probably opt for the King or Queen being the painter since they stay put in the hive.

Just wanted to share my joy with the rest of you, I finally completed one of Metros amazing dynasties !! :D

Really really enjoyed this one a lot, will have to open a tread just to show the stats and all the nice children and clones.
I was playing in Sunset Valley, and finished on Week 9 Day 5 1:35PM, finally it was time to see that town all colourfull, and not even Mortimer saw it coming when he was the last to be moved out before the town was taken by the Stars.

Now off to bed (which I should have been in hours ago, but could not stop playing), its a work day tomorrow.

Congratulations Lena  :D

Would love to know how you managed in nine weeks, your strategy was obviously a good one to get it done in such a short space of time.

Congrats Lena! I'm sure I won't make it in nine weeks!

There are two questions that I haven't seen answered, perhaps I'm not looking correctly:

First, I think I read that you can start in an empty lot if you build them a house according to the rules, but what are those rules? I just love building in the Sims so I would really like to begin with a house made by me.

Second: I have an artistic Sim who starts with the architecture career, you'll advance in that career by leveling the painting skill but I don't have to sell those paintings; can I wait until she is a self-employed painter to sell those paintings?
¡Pura vida!

You have to start on an empty lot or in an affordable house already in town.

You can save paintings to sell later. That's my strategy too.

Saving paintings to sell later, does it feel like stockpiling?  I don't know, I'm a little bit confused myself over the stockpiling situation.

I interpreted stockpiling as completing requirements a ahead of time, like making five best friends so you're set for five sets of requirements. Though it's not like I've had my painter become self-employed yet (still waiting on the first batch of drones to be born first), so I can rectify the situation if I need too.

I don't know how I feel about this, what you say makes sense though Trip.

Gardening career, I can feed Omni plant books and harvest it daily, keep the books and when its time for king and queen to employ in gardener career  - I sell the books and both my king and queen will max gardener career immediately.  I just feel like i am cheating?  I dunno.

I asked Metro about this in the begining before i started my file.

If it would be considering stockpiling to make the paintings a few weeks before they where needed, or like you say Nutella, prepare omniplants with books, harvest and sell when you choose the career.

Then i have for sure stockpilled in my attempt.

But thats not how i understood Metro, see below:

You just have to be really careful, Lena. You have your 5 requirements before RD #1. So, your King and Queen finish all their 5 requirements for RD #1 and now they can Try For Baby. They do. Now you're looking for more to do before the offspring and clones arrive. This is where you have to be super careful because you CANNOT finish any more requirements. You can make progress towards the 5 requirements needed for RD #2, but you could not actually complete them — that's stockpiling—capping a career, buying another LTR, finishing more skill challenges, etc.

My understanding of stockpiling was that you couldn't complete skill challenges, make best friends, etc. ahead of time, (or if you did make an extra best friend, you couldn't use that person for a later reproductive day) but that you could keep paintings, plants, etc. to use later.

I wasn't around when the rules were made so Metro and Blackrosea will have the final say. My feeling on stockpiling is that paintings should not be made in advance for the painting career requirement. If you choose to skill up in painting before you do the career fine but saving paintings for a future rd is a no. Same goes for stockpiling fruit for the nectar making career you have to complete the requirement for each rd that means growing the plants from scratch.

I probably have this all wrong though.
