The Collection Helper is really almost a must.  I've been hunting by just scanning across the map and so far have come up empty.  I finally bit the bullet, stole the expensive cars, and bought fruit and veggies to make it a little easier to get that first garden going.  Doing much better with cooking this time around too.  (I haven't given up on the Thyme dynasty, just fooling around with BB for a break).
What?  Grannies can't play games?

juice.  Why on earth they would put the library so far out from anything is beyond me.  Takes forever just to get there to read and skill up.

One of the first things I did when I went into Edit Town to add the Ambitions buildings was place a new lot, zone it for a library, then deleted the library and placed a new copy. It's not in town, but it's not far outside it. I left the art museum where it was, though.

I wouldn't count too highly on getting the special seeds from fishing in barnacle Bay. I've been doing a fishing test based in BB and so far my fisherman has caught close to 500 fish and the only things he has reeled in that were not fish are one laptop, one boombox, one candle and 3 bottles of bubblebath. I'm sure he will reel in other things given time, but I wouldn't want to rely on it as a source of special seeds.

Thanks, Norma.  I'm baffled as to how we're supposed to get Money Trees in Barnacle Bay.  Deathflowers will be tricky, too, because if there's just the one Deathflower plant, only a Green Thumb Sim will be able to get more than one Deathflower from it.

Yes! I got a money tree seed and a death flower seed from fishing... but it took my fisherman 3 weeks and 6 days of fishing 24/7 to get them   :(

Depending on whether or not a there is a challenge, legacy, or dynasty people may have to break down and buydebug to place a specific sanctioned spawner. Other than that, as I've posted on the Sims 3 forum, BB may have to be axed as far as playing challenges or a Play-At-Your own risk deal.

Yes, it's definitely a higher risk town for the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.  It's not a game breaker because only Life Fruit is required to be successful, but it would be more difficult without Money Trees.  Higher risk also without Death Flowers, but not a game breaker unless an Immortal actually dies from an accident.

Don't forget you can sometimes get 'seeds' (money tree, death flowers and life fruit) and other goodies from digging through your neighbors garbage cans.   ;)

It confuses me on how they consider Barnacle Bay a vacation spot when the fishing is lousy and there are very few places to "rent" unless you do massive editting.  Can we take the Mayor to court for false advertising?

Could someone walk me through how to put spawners on the BB map? I'm guessing I'd need to be playing a sim, but would I need to go to a community lot, and will the spawners only go on lots, or can I place them elsewhere on the map?

Pallyndrome, you can't put spawners around the world, only way to do that is in CAW but not shore if you can upload BB there. And even if you do, still you'll have to start from new neighborhood.
You can put spawners on lots using buydebug. Simply go to buy mode, type in cheat box buydebug and look under the spawners, chose what you want and place where you want on lots. You can do that on comunity lots from edit town or again using cheats testingcheatsenabled true and then "shift+click" - build on this lot. Spawner look like a box with a circle around it, so be careful to put those circles on free area, not under the rocks, buildings etc.

That should be fine. I'll settle for spawners on community lots. Going to fix the town up to how I like it. Can't use CAW - this is a mac, and my pc won't work it (get an error). Thanks for the help!

pally you can also go into 'edit town' then use 'world editor' to place community lots all over the island.  You may have to smooth out the lots to match the surrounding terrain at the edges.   Once you have the lot looking good then you can go into buydebug and place spawners on those lots.
That way you can have seeds, gems, bugs etc where-ever you want them on the island  ;).

At first my heart sank down into my shoe when I heard that getting seeds was going to be rough in BB, as I just started my new dynasty there.  But if you work quickly, this is definitely not a deal breaker.  You just need to make sure that your founder gets their first born to young adulthood well before they need the life fruit!

There's a tomb in France I believe that has life fruit growing wild inside.  If I'm not mistaken, it's the one under that huge boulder that takes you over to the island.  All you really need to do is hope that your adventure board in China isn't glitched.

While I haven't had the need to test this just yet, there might be another way:  if you go to the location of that tomb and click down a floor, if you can see anywhere inside you can probably zeneport in without the need for Pangu's axe.  And if you can't see, perhaps that item you buy from the special merchant that allows you to see unopened rooms could be of use (I've never used it so I'm not sure how it works).  It might be worth checking out...

There's also a tomb from a very early adventure where you can harvest flame fruit.  The money tree seed will be the tough one, but really you only need one of those to get your cash forest started.

And speaking of travel:  can't you find seeds in other countries?

Hosfac-

You don't need to get the life fruit in France, as there is the Coastal House that has like 35 life plants growing on it right from the start of the game.  There is also a deathfruit bush in one of the cemetaries.  The problem is that there are no other special seeds available.
