Lag issues
« on: June 30, 2014, 05:09:23 PM »
I've been playing Sims 3 for quite a while now, I usually play for a bit, then stop and repeat with a new sim, etc. It wasn't until 2 days ago that Sims 3 started lagging after about 10-15 minutes of playing. The lag is quite unbearable. Only 1-2 minutes pass per every real second on ultra speed, which is quite painful when my sim is working or sleeping and some visual parts of the game are lagging but some are not. When my sim is walking, the game is lagging, skipping frames but when he's sleeping, the zzz-s coming out of him are coming out at regular speed, but time is moving on slower than it should.
I've googled about this issue and haven't found a correct fix. I've tried using the Master Controller and resetting everything, which didn't really help. At first I thought that the problem is world-related to Appaloosa Plains, but I've moved my sim to Isla Paradiso and it didn't help. It went nicely for 10 minutes and I was really glad during that time, thinking that it helped, but then it started lagging again.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I've been playing with the sim for about 10 hours before the lag actually started.

Have you cleared your caches?  You might also hit the technical help board and search the sticky topics there.  You can try a bit of a factory reset to see if that helps.

Welcome to the forum! I would suggest checking out a few threads on the technical help board. I've gathered a few examples for you.

What to do if Your Game Slows Down (Clean Up Your Game)

Factory Reset: Fix Your. Game in 1/4 the Time of a Reinstall

Performance Issues (Links to Threads

I hope this helps. There is a lot to read through but hopefully these will fix your game for you.

Also, playing in Isla Paradiso won't help with lag issues because it's a very laggy town anyway. I don't see why Appaloosa Plains is lagging, though.

Edit: Gaa, Wolf beat me to it! Never mind.

I've deleted the cache files and files in DCBackup. I'll start up the game and move my sim somewhere else and then I'll report! Thanks for the help!

Deleting cache, doing the factory reset or moving to Twinbrook didn't help. I'll start a new game sometime and I'll see if that one's going to lag as well.

I found that after clearing cache the first time, it helped my new files but not the old.
