Need help with Lag problem.
« on: June 26, 2014, 02:46:27 PM »
I just bought sims 3 with some of it expansion (WA,AB,LN,PET,ST,SP,UL,IP,IF) for my sister (which is really expensive in my opinion) but after I install and update the game I got this weird Lag issue
this is PC Spec:
AMD FX8120 CPU
AMD HD6870 1GB GPU
8 GB Ram

It like the sims character continue to freeze for a second and then un freeze just like when you play online game with bad internet. It happen when i try to move camera too and lower graphic quality doesn't seem to fix this problem hopefully someone could help me with this.

This is what I already try: Re install the game
Use Over watch and Master control
                                         Upgrade my Video card driver
                                         Defrag my HD

What world are you playing the game in?  Some of them have bad routing issues which you can fix yourself, or use a fixed version of the world to solve the pathing problems.

I don't use mods, but after trying many things that didn't work, I found Ellacharmed's fixed worlds and playing with these (IP, etc.) eliminated my freeze and lag problem.

You can find her fixed .world files here:
http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:World_Routing_Lags/Downloads
http://ellacharmed.wordpress.com/2013/10/05/isla-paradiso/

You can find the paths to where the original world files are here:
http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:World_Routing_Lags/Where

You should back up your original worlds and rename them as .orig or something so the game will recognize only the new world in each folder, as directed.  Then copy and paste the new .world file into the folder for each expansion.

The full install instructions are here:
http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:World_Routing_Lags/GetWorld

Finally, you will need to start a new game in the new world to play to get rid of the problem.  You can save your original household (with or without house) to the library first if you've already started playing a game, then import them to the new game.  Relationships will be lost, but you'll at least have your sims with any skills and inventory they may have.

I hope this helps.

Make sure your sims aren't carrying around a lot of inventory. Scrap especially slows my games down.

I have the same problem when my sim's start carrying around loads of stuff.

Definitely check your inventories. :) Especially if you have a writer!

Does it happen in all save files or just in one?

When I first got my game installed my game was very slow. I opened a new save file and it was fine. All files have been good since.
