I bought a future home and my descendants took it over

Yeah, I'm kinda peeved. I bought The Campus, which is not cheap, when I was in the future, an the next time I was there, my descendants had taken over! I know I had lived there and been in buy mode, because when I was there, I placed a portal on my lot. I guess I didn't know of there was any way to prevent this or what, but it's pretty irritating.

Do your Sims still have the option of living there when you visit the future?  If so, you can probably just kick out your descendants.
