Missing disk message
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:58:04 PM »
Hi all, I've been wondering about this problem. When I get to the screen where you chose which save file to play, so stones it says "you don't have your game disk." It began happening soon after I installed my seventh (?) EP. It's very random and happens about half the time. I tried rebooting and all that but it still happens. Any quick foxes? Not an emergency since my game is still easily playable, just an annoyance. I have all EPs other than Showtime and ITF, no SPs, and I've never used any CC or mods (although I'm thinking about using story progression in my legacy.) Any help?

Which disc do you use? It has to be the most recently released, not installed. You would have to use IP disc.

I do use the IP disk. As I said it only happens about half the time. Some of my EPs including seasons which I installed just before having this issue, were digital. Would that be an issue?

If it happens half the time, I'd actually be concerned it might be a problem with your drive.

Do you have any other games that need the disc? Do they work ok?

Actually, I did have a hard drive problem a while ago but it was fixed- should I fix it again? I don't have other disk games as other than the sims I'm not much of a gamer.

Hi Lisa,

I think what KhaineGB might be talking about (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is your actual cd rom drive. We've had cd rom drive go bad before and how we knew it was doing so is it would do strange things like not reading that there was a disc in the drive.

However, Hubby does say to try uninstalling Island Paradise. Register the EP if you haven't with Sims3.com and then download it from Origin. This should take care of the Missing disk message.

It is not in origin. Only my origin games are used in origin account. This one (Ip) was in disk format.

Do you use Mods? My suggestion would be to try NRaas' NoCD mod, to see if it works. :)

MrsFlynn hit the nail on the head. :) I was talking about your CD Drive.

I would go with Seabody's suggestion and use the Nraas NoCD mod. I use it on my laptop so I can keep my discs upstairs near the main desktop machine (and I take my laptop EVERYWHERE, so it saves potentially losing discs).

What I was trying to say is that you can make your Sims 3 games into Origin games. So to speak by registering them on Sims3.com, if you haven't already. Then download them from Origin.

But if you don't want to do that. Give Seabody's suggestion a try - downloading NRaas' NoCD mod to see if that helps. -- https://nraas.wikispaces.com/NoCD

It's pretty easy. Get the framework off ModTheSims and follow the instructions.

Then just pop the NoCD crack into the mods folder and you're done. :)

If you need help with the digital version, let us know. We can help. If you want to, you can read up on a How-To Hubby wrote a couple years ago, and since updated on the digital version of Sims 3.

Topic: How-To: Backup and Restore The Sims 3 From Origin Downloader

I was going to try to write up a little how-to on creating a mods folder and whatnot, then realized we have a very well written How-to by Jeanamariex3 that I could link to instead - she explains it WAY better than I ever could. :)

Hope this helps, :)

The mod appeared to work. Unfortunately I can't use it right now because I'm in the middle of a 4x4, LS, ID, and a Domination Dynasty! (I like dynasties.)
