Wayne’s suggestion of moving onto the hill with the other celebrities had been on Anna’s mind, even while she slept. When she awoke, he was already up and on the family computers, so she decided to use her laptop. It would be worth at least investigating the prices.
Anna: “Hey love? Remember your idea of moving up onto the hill?”
Wayne: “Yeah. What about it?”
Anna: “We can’t afford it.”
Wayne: “Ask Kerry if she wants to move in then?”
Anna: “Are you sure? I mean… it’s another person in the house.”
Wayne: “She seems nice. The kids seem to like her and I think it might do you good.”
Anna: “Alright then. I’ll ask her.”
After a shower and some breakfast, Anna got straight on the phone to Kerry. The kids were at school by now, and Wayne had just gone off to work, probably for his last shift ever.
Kerry: “Hey Auntie Anna. What’s up?”
Anna: “Wayne’s had a mad idea.”
Kerry: “Oh dear… what’s he done now?”
Anna: “We want to move up onto the hill, but can’t afford it. He said I should see if you want to move with us?”
Kerry: “What… really?! You want me to move in with you guys?”
Anna: “Sure! The kids seem to like you and Wayne thinks it might be good for us to be closer to each other.”
Kerry: “Alright… sure! I’ll sell my apartment and move in with you guys. Just give me a basement or something out of the way so I’m not in the way all the time… and I’ve kinda got used to my own space.”
Anna: “We can do that!”
And so it was done. The family now had three adults and two teenagers, plus a rather large house to themselves.
Once they were moved in, Anna sent text messages to Wayne, Jack and Sarah so they knew where to go home. Kerry went straight out to do some work, and the Fairy decided to work on a new garden. She’d had to leave all of her plants behind.
The next couple of days were spent actually settling into the house. The kids claimed their rooms, Kerry claimed the basement, though insisted the family needed a mausoleum “because all rich people had them”, so they hired builders to put that up in the corner of the garden. Once everything was finally settled, Anna and Wayne were able to have a little alone time.
Anna: “How do you think we’re doing?”
Wayne: “Big house, plenty of simoleans to make sure we won’t be broke. I think we’re doing good.”
Anna: “I actually meant with the kids… but good point.”
Wayne: “Oh… they’ll be graduating soon, won’t they?”
Anna: “Mmhmm.”
Wayne: “Good grades, haven’t been in trouble. I think we’ve done really well.”
Anna: “Yeah… I guess we have.”
Wayne was due to go to work the next day, but he had other ideas.
Restaurant: “Hey Wayne, what’s up? Calling in a sickie?”
Wayne: “When have I ever done that?”
Restaurant: “Good point, so what’s wrong?”
Wayne: “I would like to retire. I’m old and want to spend what time I have left with my kids.”
Restaurant: “Can’t blame you. Alright, we’ll get the paperwork done and sent to HR so you’ll get your pension.”
Wayne: “Appreciate it.”
Restaurant: “Enjoy yourself. It’s been a pleasure working with you.”
Sarah had something of her own to deal with. Rumours at school claimed she’d been slandered for making out with a vampire… a vampire of all things! Truth be told… she hadn’t made out with
anyone yet, and the teen was thoroughly upset. Her teacher suggested she go to City Hall and sue them, and that’s exactly what she did once classes were over.
Even though she won, she still needed to talk to someone about it.
Sarah: “Dad?”
Wayne: “Yes, munchkin?”
Sarah: “People have been spreading lies about me.”
Wayne: “I heard that.”
Sarah: “…you did? You don’t believe it, do you?”
Wayne: “If it were true, I’m sure you would have told your mother, who would have told me… so no.”
Sarah: “Oh good. I sued them and won anyway…”
Wayne: “That’s great!”
Sarah: “…did I handle it the right way?”
Wayne: “You’re a celebrity. Slapping people with a lawsuit is the only legal way to deal with stuff like that.”
Sarah: “Okay. Thanks… dad?”
Wayne: “Yes?”
Sarah: “Do we make you and Mom proud? Me and Jack, that is.”
Wayne: “More than you know, honey.”
Meanwhile, Kerry was having her own problems…
Ghost: “Hi Kerry!”
Kerry: “
MOM! I’m trying to sleep!”
Ghost: “But I just want to see how you’re doing…”
Kerry: “I’m
tired and I have work in the morning. Look… I’ll come see you tomorrow, alright?”
Ghost: *sigh* “Okay.”
…and even Anna had a visitor just before she went to bed!
Ghost: “Hi, Auntie Anna.”
Anna: “Well… now I know why Kerry wanted a Mausoleum. Hi Susan.”
Susan: “You’re not mad?”
Anna: “No. Just… don’t disturb my kids, alright?”
Susan: “I promise.”
Anna: “Are your Mom and Dad down there too?”
Susan: “Yes, but they aren’t active at the moment.”
Anna: “Good… I really should go see Matt at some point then.”
It seemed the house had gained a few more occupants, though they were only out at night. At the weekend, Wayne taught Jack to drive, and Jack went by the junkyard and brought something home.
Anna: “What on simland are you doing, Jack?”
Jack: “Hey Mom. I thought I’d restore this car since I can drive now.”
Anna: “Did you forget we’re rich and can buy you almost any car you want?”
Jack: “Nope.”
Anna: “So… why?”
Jack: “I don’t know. It just called to me, and I thought rebuilding a car might be good, you know? Teach myself how to maintain them to save money in the future.”
Anna: “I… I’m not even going to try and argue with that. Just don’t hurt yourself, alright?”
Jack: “You worry too much, Mom.”
Anna: “Shush. It’s in the job description.”
The end of the weekend marked Spooky Day, otherwise known as the twins birthday. They were about to become adults, and as such, Anna decided to throw one of her famous parties. She was not going to have her children take a major life step without a huge celebration to mark it! Sarah was first to the cake…
…and it looked like Anna had cloned herself! Except for the eyes.
Jack went next…
…and looked like a younger version of his father.
Once the kids had their cake, Wayne decided he was going to bed. His age was starting to catch up with him and he couldn’t party like everyone else these days. So while he slept…
…everyone else carried on partying!
After a good night’s sleep, both Jack and Sarah went to collect their graduation diploma’s, and then came home to take the Sims University aptitude tests. Both scored very well, so they packed up their clothes and decided to book in for a couple of terms. Wayne and Anna were both happy to see their children grown up and doing well. Soon enough, they were off to University, Sarah choosing a Fine Arts degree and Jack choosing Physical Education.
It was a new chapter in everyone’s lives.
