Please Graveyard--The Daughters of Loki: Valkeries
« on: June 06, 2014, 11:21:02 AM »

He sat in his hall and waited.  There were things at work.  Things beyond his power to change or directly manipulate.  That knowledge alone drove him to distraction.  However, what he could not directly impact, he could always manipulate through others.

That's why he'd called them.
He, Loki the god of fire and the grand creator of chaos, needed help.
That's why he'd called this war council, and he now awaited his armor-clad daughters' arrivals.
One by one, they came.  Having inherited a bit of his trickster nature, they had varying degrees of shape-shifting ability.  Therefore, they arrived, as he requested, in their more humanoid forms.
The first to arrive was the eldest:  Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse.

In her mortal form, she still bore the telltale signs of her true form in the ears, tail, and hooves.  However, the lack of extra appendages just might be enough to fool an onlooker from a distance, Loki thought to himself, though he didn't really believe it.
Next, Fenrir, the mighty wolf, appeared.

She was still fur-covered, had a protruding muzzle, lupine ears, and claws instead of feet.  "This may not work after all," Loki thought to himself, as he assessed the first two arrivals.
The third child brought him no more hope.  Perhaps even less.

Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent as she was also known, appeared as a scale-covered being that seemed more bipedal lizard than average mortal.  With a sigh, Loki looked up as the final daughter arrived.
Hel.  The youngest.

The queen of the realm of death, Helheim.  Her lower half, from hips to toes, was plagued by death and decay, but from the waist up...

Perhaps there was hope after all.
"Daughters of mine," Loki greeted them with a smile.  "A war is brewing all around us."  At the mention of war, Fenrir snarled a savage smile.

"Odin has been amassing an army in Valhalla," he continued.  "Soldiers fallen in war.  However, we shall outdo him through strategy rather than strength of arms."
Sleipnir nodded approvingly at this comment.  The serpent and wolf seemed puzzled.  Hel simply stood in stoic silence.

"You four," Loki continued, "will enter Midgard.  You will travel to a land known as 'Moonlight Falls.'  It is a place where the magic of our realm mingles with the mundane mortal world."
Here, Loki looked directly at Hel.  "You will be the mother of a fighting force," he said.  "Your sisters will help you in this quest.  You will breed soldiers.  Specialists.  Warriors to help me rise to prominence.  To help us rise to prominence.  Our well-trained and strategic forces, though small in number, will overwhelm the forces of Odin despite his advantage in numbers."
When Loki had mentioned heading to the mortal realm, Hel had looked up.  This seemed to be the first time Hel had actually looked directly at her father since arriving, yet she still remained silent.

"I will provide a home base for you in this realm of Moonlight Falls.  It will have what each of you need to complete your roles in this challenge.  Hel, you will be the most capable of passing unnoticed in mortal society.  You will be tasked with seducing mortal men to breed my demi-god army.  The rest of you will stay in the home base.  Fenrir, as you were trapped within the earth by those foolish Aesir trying to prevent your role in Ragnarok, you will work the earth raising crop and vegetables, but you will also be the warrior of the group and will train our soldiers in feats of great athletic prowess."

"Jormungandr, you shall raise and nurture our young warriors.  And you, Sleipnir, having spent great amounts of time with Odin, our wise adversary, you shall teach our warriors so that they may be clever and quick-thinking rather than merely violent."
"Your quest," he continued, looking again at Hel and taking her continued silence as agreement, "will be completed when you have bred these many soldiers in addition to,"

"a wolf warrior to serve as general to Fenrir's forces,"

"a grey-skinned equestrian to lead our mounted troops alongside Sleipnir,"

"a waterchild to lead our troops in the wake of Jormungandr's assault,"

"and an angel of death to help you procure more troops for the realm of the dead."
As he finished this, he began weaving the spell to teleport his four daughters to Moonlight Falls.
As he was doing this, the four girls looked at each other.  Looking back at their father, they gave responses of:
Hel:  So, I get to go see live people?!?
Midgard Serpent:  This will be great.  This is the bestest plan EVER!

Fenrir:  I wasn't listening.  Something about war, though, so I'm in!
Sleipnir:  Oh, sure, four mythical freaks in the mortal realm.  What could possibly go wrong with that?

Left to right, they began teleporting away until the last, Fenrir, had disappeared.
Loki sat for a moment in stunned silence.  He realized he hadn't actually spent much time at all with any of his children.  Perhaps they were not the soldiers he'd expected.  However, it was too late now.  He'd just unleashed them on the world.

Loki:  What have I just done?

This story is going to play out as an Immortal Sisters Challenge.
As Hel in the most human-looking, it only makes sense that she's the only one who can freely leave the lot.  She fills the "fire" role as the baby-making sister.  She'll also learn painting and guitar.  LTW-Master Romancer
Fenrir is the earth sister (given the tale of the binding of Fenrir, this makes some sense).  She'll garden, fish, and learn martial arts.  She will defy her father's orders slightly as she'll leave the lot to fish and sell produce.  LTW-The Perfect Garden
The Midgard Serpent is, of course, the water sister.  She'll be in charge of nurturing the young children.  She'll learn the skill of cooking and handiness.  LTW-The Culinary Librarian
As Sleipnir is known to be a flying horse (with eight legs), she will be the air sister.  She gets to tutor the young children and will master the skill of logic.  Logic also makes good sense for her as she was Odin's steed and he was the wisest of beings (after Mimer the giant was beheaded).  LTW-Renaissance Sim
Each of these sisters is to reach their LTW before the challenge is ended.

As per the regular rules of the immortal sisters challenge, it is centered around the fire goddess (Hel, in this case) having babies.  However, the goal for this story is to have four specific babies.  When that is done, and those children have reached the goals set for them, the challenge will be completed.
Note, given the specific requirements for the four "goal" children, along with the fact that they must be female, this challenge will naturally lend itself to a reasonably large family/army being created.
Any additional children (non-"goal" children) born into the household are the soldiers for Loki's army and must be raised well including learning all toddler skills, getting A's in school, they are to get to level 3 of the cooking, gardening, handiness, and martial arts (or athletics), and reach level 5 in logic, art, and music (any instrument).  Each is also to have a girlfriend or boyfriend before they reach young adult.  Upon reaching young adult, the offspring are to be moved out (kick out) within 12 hours of aging up.  They may not be sent to boarding school at any point.
The "goal children" are to be handled the same in terms of childhood learning goals, yet they do not get kicked out.  They are all modeled after the original four sisters and have requirements beyond the toddler/child/teen requirements (which can be handled as young adults) and those are as follows:
A werewolf-As a general in training, this Sim will be allowed to leave the lot for two reasons:  converting Sims into werewolves and hunting, LTW-Leader of the Pack
A mermaid-Continuing the liquid (water) theme, she will master alchemy, LTW-alchemy artisan
A pink fairy-As "collector of souls," she can help by also having children (collecting souls in the forms of the fathers and creating more souls in the forms of the children), LTW-Heartbreaker
A grey skinned Sim-As captain of the cavalry, she will adopt, tame, and learn to ride a horse (though she will be unable to leave the lot), LTW-Living in the Lap of Luxury
These four are to complete their individual goals as well as their LTW's.

There will be no usage of watermelons or apples to influence gender during a pregnancy.  Outside of pregnancy, these can be eaten as often as desired.
There can only be one pregnancy per babydaddy.  Changing lifestates of babydaddies with alchemy is acceptable, changing the lifestates of the children is not allowed, nor is plastic surgery.
The original household must purchase a second lot and build a home base for this second quartet.  It is to be equally sectioned and thematic like the original.
Buy mode will only be available at the moment that Hel or her "angel of death" spin into maternity wear.
Each of the eight girls will have an exclusive skill to max as follows:
-Hel-charisma
-Midgard Serpent-cooking
-Sleipnir-logic
-Fenrir-gardening
-Fairy-mixology
-Mermaid-alchemy
-Grey Girl-riding
-Werewolf-wolf skills

Fail Conditions:
1.  Any child failing to meet their milestones before age-ups
2.  The age-up or death of any of the original four sisters ("goal" children are replaceable)
3.  The social worker takes a child away, or the repo man comes
4.  Any of the exclusive max skills are maxed by anyone else in the household
5.  Apples or watermelons are consumed by Hel or the fairy during a pregnancy

Wow, all these stories, and more! This is probably the first (hopefully not the only) story of yours I've chanced to read from the "start." This looks a handful, but I guess it won't be a problem to you. *thumbs up

At first I was confused as to why Loki's kids were all genderbent in this (save for Hel), but now that I know why, it's just an amazing setup!  :D Can't wait to read more!

Did you combine Sims with WoW for your pictures?  I recognize the pattern on Jormungandr's robes, and Hel looks a lot like Sylvannas.

Glad you were here for the start of what I hope will be a fantastic tale.

Thanks!  If it's not a good (but not overwhelming) challenge, I'll just get bored with it  ;=)

Yeah, the genders had to fit the "sisters" concept.  Plus, I think they ended up being rather lovely this way.

Did you combine Sims with WoW for your pictures?  I recognize the pattern on Jormungandr's robes, and Hel looks a lot like Sylvannas.
Hel's attire is a download of Demented_Designs' Sylvanas Sim.  I just thought the skull-adorned armor seemed very fitting for the queen of death.  As far as Jormungandr, that's just one of the abstract patterns in CAS with a bit of recoloring to fit the water motif a bit more.

Where does the immortal sisters challenge come from?
Hi, Pam!  The challenge come from the Mod the Sims site and I believe was originally posted by tigger89.  However, I learned of it from kaseofhearts and owe her quite a bit of gratitude for introducing me to this challenge, helping me find the necessary CC to make it happen, and for letting me bounce ideas off of her.
Since it wasn't one of the challenges posted in the Projects section (and since hearts' immortal sisters were also here on the miscellaneous page), I figured this was the correct place for it.

I love additional rules and difficult, story driven, mind numbing challenges! Go go go go! Can't wait to read more  :) I have an un-necessarily difficult 100 baby challenge twist rule-set I am working on perfecting before I reveal it, and this gives me hope.

Wow.  I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a 100 baby challenge.  Good luck with that!

Yep, straight from Zheena's crazy baby challenge to this.

Yeah, I had to add some twists to fit the story concept.  Hearts' story is fantastic and really inspired this one, so big kudos to her!

Thanks so much!  Given that this is a baby-focused challenge, the Zheena reference is rather well placed.

Thanks, dear!  Your Eterna Sisters set the standard for me of what a good immortal sisters story should be and your help and support in getting this together has been fantastic!  I appreciate you.  Lots.

The Daughters of Loki: The Arrival
« Reply #14 on: June 10, 2014, 12:10:21 PM »

And so, Loki cast the spell, and sent his daughters off to Moonlight Falls, in the realm of Midgard.  As promised, he provided a house for them.  Of course, being a god, he wasn't entirely sure what a mere mortal Sim house might be like.

Sleipnir:  Oh yeah.  Nice job, dad.  Nobody will suspect anything about a house which spits in the face of gravity.
Fenrir:  I can spit!
Midgard Serpent:  I think the house is beautiful!
Hel:  I want to go see my room.
And following Hel's logic, it's time for the requisite house tour.

As the earth element, Fenrir has a bare ground and greenhouse area (to help in the winter months) where she will grow food for the household and develop some early fishing skills in their small ponds.

A spiral staircase leads down to a functional bedroom and training area (with two planter bowls under the loft bed).  There's a door connecting it to the basement area belonging to the Midgard Serpent as she has all of the bathrooms in her area.

Her basement area is basically a functional bedroom with two bathrooms.  It will be handy when the children have aged up to their child and teen years.

Upstairs, she can deal with all the baby and toddler years as well as her cooking skills.  And yes, she has swimming pools built into each level.

Up the stairs from the water area, we have the fire room, or Hel's area.  She has her bedroom separated from the main area in case the children are working on their music skills when she has a gentleman caller.  The available instruments include the piano, double bass, lute, and harp.  The vining plants are meant to replicate the idea of decay present in Hel's lower half.

And of course, the topmost area is for air, or Sleipnir.  She has her bookcases and chairs as well as some horse statues, as that seemed fitting.  The balcony will be a nice area for a telescope and/or chess set once a store visit becomes available.
After scoping out their new home, the girls got straight to work on their challenge.

Sleipnir:  Alright, time to read.

"Midy," as her sisters call her, took a quick swim before she started cooking.

Holes were easily dug by the resident wolf and then seeds were planted.

Hel felt overwhelmed by the whole idea of needing to go out and meet real, live people.  So she took a nap.
Loki, looking on from Asgard, decided his misguided young girls might need some help, so he cast one more spell...

A magic mirror which holds the essence of Hugi, or thought.  Loki felt certain that the addition of this leadership would ensure success, and he sat back to watch things unfold.

Hugi:  Greetings, princess of death.  I am Hugi.  Your father has sent me to be an advisor to bring clarity of thought and guidance to your crucial mission.
Hel:  Fantastic!  Can you tell me how to meet men?

Hugi:  Oh.  Umm.  Hey!  What's that over there?  Oh no, I'm fading away...fading away...
Hel:  Stupid mirror.
And she set off on her own while her siblings turned their attention to other matters like...

fishing,

leveling up a skill,

and...well...still reading.
Hel:  I know exactly where to go to find men!

The public library?
Hel:  Hey there, handsome.

Chauncey (Thinking):  She's beautiful!
Flint:  Wait, you mean me?

Hel:  I'm Hel, and I'm seducing you.  How am I doing?
Flint:  Umm...well...you're direct.  I'll definitely give you that.  You don't know a lot about social interactions do you?  Can't imagine what the nightlife must be like where you're from.
Hel:  Umm, it's safe to say it's pretty dead where I'm from.  So, can you teach me to be a master seductress?
Flint:  Seriously?  Well, I can try my best.  Although, if I'm your teacher, does that mean I get permanently friend-zoned?
Hel:  What's the friend zone?

Flint:  You have much to learn.
Chauncey (thinking):  I hate my life.
So, Flint MacDuff agreed to become Hel's tutor in her adjustment to Midgard.  However, after a long day among the living, she found a place that felt more like home.

And so we get ready to turn the page on the awkward adjustment to the new world,

Sleipnir:  I'll have you know turning this page is the highlight of my day.
and the girls get ready for some much-needed rest.

And night descends on a house that defies logic.
