New Patches
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:18:46 PM »
Ok i saw the new 1.6 and now the 1.7 patch. I was trying to download them, but it said error: files missing at the very end (which made me very furious)
So the question is : Do you need to have World Adventures to download them or is there something wrong with my computer o.O

You don't need WA for the 1.6 patch, it gives some of the WA tweaks to the standard game but it is very buggy at the moment and the 1.7 patch fixes a major save game issue introduced by 1.6.

With this in mind you may want to skip these for now and stick with whichever patch you currently have (1.4/1.5)

I don't think the problems are so bad that you shouldn't get the update. There are some cool features. :)

Just try downloading it again, maybe something went wrong in the download, it happens sometimes.

Actually PJ is right, it's just that I encountered bugs that spoiled some of my current games and that kind of put me off the latest patch.  I'm trying a new game at the moment which is working better. I'll see how it goes.

Never mind, hopefully I'll get World Adventures for Christmas.  ;D

After my 10th try to download the latest patch, it keeps saying Error: File Missing. Anyone know why it says that?

You know what that is, Bogie? I had that problem too and was very frustrated today. I think it has something to do with Special Seeds in the Inventory. At least the solution that brought up the grocery store options for my character again was planting the Special Seeds in my Inventory.

C'mon, EA! The whole WA/patch combo seems like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back to me.

I need to reinstall the Sims 3. Anyone know how to uninstall? When I try to delete the file right off the hard drive, it wont let me (Vista).

Never, never try to delete a program, it needs to be uninstalled.

Sometimes there's an option to uninstall in the game folder, sometimes not; this method should work every time:

Open the Control Panel from the Start menu. Then choose "Uninstall a program" under Programs.
Now you will get a list of all programs installed on your computer; scroll down to The Sims 3 and single-click. At the top of the list there's an option to uninstall (maybe it says Uninstall/Change).
Click it. :)

It will ask you if you're sure, maybe if you want to keep saved games (I did that and it worked fine but you should probably do a backup anyway). Then it uninstalls. It probably takes a while.

This is just insane!!  >:(

Metro thanks, your suggestion worked. I have however discovered yet another anomaly. Food in the fridge is going bad practically right after its cooked!! Had one of my Sims cook a group meal. Later on that day, option for "clean out bad food" came up. Same day!! What the heck??  ??? Sim 1 can't cook, so he lives on leftovers, but now I can't even do that!!!  >:(

What in the heck?? EA needs to get it together. Frankly, this is just ridiculous and I have had it!

I posted this on the other thread, too, but I read in the Prima Guide that Great and Outstanding meals can be stored in the refrigerator for leftovers later.  It wasn't clear about storing meals of lower quality, but it makes me wonder if that's something that's been changed.  Maybe the quality of the meal determines how long it will last in the refrigerator.  I'll try to test this as soon as I can.  I hope EA works this out because I really don't like the way it is now.  I've replaced the refrigerator several times and always with the most expensive, but still having the problem.

I don't think so. My Gallo brothers had the best fridge from day 1 and were able to store Goopy Carbonara without it spoiling. The first time it was made/stored it was only Nice quality.

Pam, have you created any brand new families with the patch/WA? I wonder if that's an issue? Well, no scratch that because when I saw the spoiling problem too it was with a newly created character right after I got WA.
