Laptop Crashing

I've had my laptop for what will be 2 years this August (dxdiag at the bottom of this post). I had been able to play the game with no problems or lag until maybe the beginning of this year. Now whenever I try to play, I get about 30 minutes of gameplay then my laptop just cuts out.

I have no other programs running at the same time.

I have a cooling fan under my laptop.

I tried yesterday uninstalling and reinstalling my base game and Into The Future. When I patched my game I only patched as far as 1.63. This got rid of some lag issues I was having but I still get the crash.

I have all EP's, no stuff packs, I have Lucky Palms, Sunlit Tides, Monte Vista and Hidden Springs worlds. I also have some store content but not loads and no CC or mods are running.

I think i have told you everything. Can anyone advise what could be causing the crash and if there's anything I could do to stop it? Right now I am hovering over the buy button on a gaming laptop...

Did it say only 4 gigs of memory?  If that is correct, probably not enough.  The more you save, the more memory it needs, especially with large files.  How is the rendering in your game?  Does it take a while or does it render fairly quickly.  I only had 4 gigs of memory for quite some time and it was really slow.  After I put 12 in, it is really fast and renders almost instantly.  I still can't get use to it. :)

thanks for the reply, weird I should have 8GB memory.  It had 6 and I put an extra 2 in.  It does render fairly quickly.

Hi, leelee77.

I noticed in your initial post that you uninstalled just the base game and Into the Future. While I haven't tried that with The Sims 3, I know that in most games, that can really mess up the game's files to unintall/reinstall only parts of the game.

Try uninstalling all of The Sims 3 and reinstalling and see if that helps.

Also, try creating a new game and see if the lag/crash is still present as sometimes long running saved games can get corrupted.
