Update Messed Up My Game!
« on: May 16, 2014, 08:35:02 AM »
Hey All.

Last week I updated my sims 3 to version 1.67 and now the game won't load. The Launcher opens, but when I click on play, I get nothing then the launcher exits.

What came to my mind is that I should sadly uninstall the game then install it again and *POOF goes the update.

PS: I did this factory reset thing but didn't work out.

Please tell me I can fix it without uninstalling! This is depressing!! I don't want to spend more than an hour installing everything.

Welcome to our Forum.  :)

Just a couple housekeeping issues first.  I'm going to edit your post to remove the all capitals as using them like this is against our Forum Rules (link in my signature below).  I'm also going to move this to the Technical Help board because it's a technical issue with your game.  You'll get better help on that board.

Now, for the problem itself, have you been able to launch your game at all since you installed the update?  If you do end up reinstalling everything, you won't lose the update because the game will prompt you to update after every expansion and stuff pack you install.  By the end of it, you'll have an updated game.  We have some good technical people here who will be able to help you better than I can, as well.
Read and heed the Forum Rules, please!

I really appreciate your fast reply! Thank you. And sorry for the capslock and for posting this in the wrong place.

I will wait a bit perhaps someone might be able to help, if not, then i will uninstall if this is what it takes. I really didnt know that the update will be somehow saved if i did this! so thanks for that as well!

Regards,
Rola

A few questions.

1.  Do you use any mods?
2.  Do you have any CC/EA Store content installed?
3.  Have you updated all along or did you skip any updates?

When you say you removed them.  Did you remove or moved the whole mods folder or just files in it?

I would suggest that you move your Sims 3 downloads folder to your desktop, delete the four cache files in the Sims 3 folder (CASPartCache.package; scriptCache.package; compositorCache.package; simCompositorCache.package).  Then delete everying in the DCBackup folder EXCEPT the ccmerged.package file (which you will only have if you have premium content from the EA Store).

Once all that has been cleared/moved/etc., run the SuperPatch.

After the SuperPatch completes, see if you can successfully start a new game.

That's about as clean as I can think of to try to get it working without a full re-install.

Thanks!! *you guys are fast*

Ive had this game since a very long time. Sims 1 (all pack), Sims 2 (also all packs), Sims 3 (still dont have all of em) waiting for Sims 4.

Will try what you told me (:

Have a nice day. or night.
