Chapter 3 – Those Childhood YearsActually, childhood doesn’t have to last very long when playing a legacy. Anyone can have a birthday cake as soon as the first notification that a birthday is coming appears. And since all traits have to be random, it isn’t even necessary to make sure that all toddler skills have been learned or an A has been attained. Anyway, Gustav soon became a child.
He added “heavy sleeper” to his traits – a useful one to have when sharing a bedroom with one’s toddler sibling.
Three of Gustav’s outfits appear below – everyday, athletic, and formal. Since Gustav is insane, the only time he wears his everyday outfit is when he goes to bed.
Bebe taught Dorian how to walk.
Her pregnancy leave came to end while Dorian was still a toddler, so Justice stayed home from work one day and taught Dorian how to talk.
Justice: Promotion. Can you say promotion?
Dorian: What you just said.
Sheep: (Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I am not in a Wallace and Gromit cartoon? Is it better to be one of many or a lone sheep?)
We’ll consider the sheep’s ponderings at a later date – or maybe never. Justice became an adult late one night.
Justice: Ack! Wrinkles! Pot belly! I want a new car!
Watcher: Relax. You can’t have a mid-life crisis until I install Generations.
Justice: Oh. Does that mean Gustav doesn’t have to…I mean, won’t be allowed to go to prom?
Watcher: Yes.
Justice: No drink thrown in his face? No crush who won’t dance with him? No one who gets into a fight with him because they’re wearing the same tux?
Watcher: That’s right.
Justice: Sheesh, kids have it easy these days.
Speaking of Gustav, he’s learning how to paint.
Gustav: Why me?
Watcher: Because you never know whose portrait you might have to paint. Because it’s a way to make money. Because it’s fun.
Gustav: You have the strangest ideas of what constitutes fun. I mean – playing peek-a-boo with my little brother?
Sheep: (Why can't I move? The sheep in Wallace and Gromit can move. What's wrong with me?)
With Justice’s last promotion, he attained his lifetime wish to become the CEO of a major corporation. Some re-modeling was done on the house, so the Cottoneyes now have 2 bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen, a dining room, and a small living room that will eventually become a foyer.
Dorian’s birthday picture didn’t register, but he’s a child now, with the traits loves the outdoors, easily impressed and vehicle enthusiast. Here is his wardrobe:
