How do you make long posts "stay still"
« on: September 20, 2010, 05:34:19 PM »
I'm sorry if this is addressed in another thread, but how do you make a longer post show what you're typing, instead of scrolling around?  I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere, but am not sure where?

I ask that same question in the Dynasty thread and I think it got lost, maybe if we wave and scream, "over here" someone will see it. LOL ;D

Yes, I thought of you instantly, and thought your question got lost.

Most forum posts only hold so many characters and when you put screenshots in them, it takes up that much more room.  I have looked for settings, but I don't think we can change it.  I could be wrong.  I have just been making seperate posts in my dynasty thread when it starts to jump.  There is always a workaround, I suppose. ;D

I'm not sure I understand exactly what the problem is.

When you're typing a lot of text and you pass the bottom of the 'text area', it keeps scrolling back to the top so you cannot really see what you're typing.

Especially putting those pics in.  Like I said earlier, probably because there is a character limit and once you reach that, I just start another post.  Yours doesn't do that?

When typing a post it becomes long, especially with pics added.  Eventually you can't see what you're currently typing because the post box is all "jittery".  I'm sorry that - can't make it sound clearer-I don't know how else to describe it.  Salty knows what I'm talking about, so maybe between all of us we can figure it out.

It happens to me too just so you know that it isn't just you guys. I have no idea except that I just try to make my posts smaller.

Yes, I get frustrated by this as well.  I sometimes resort to doing several shorter posts in a row because of this.

Copy paste it from an already created Word document will help. Although I know this is only a way to get around the problem, not to fix it.

Changing your screen layout from fullscreen to a smaller screen will result in that you can type a little longer than in full screen but eventually you will get the same old problem still again.

I've conversed about this with Swede months ago per PM, but he also don't know any solution just than making your posts shorter. He also said that in case I find this whole thing a problem I could make a post of it in the Help section. Guess you've just outspeeded me. :p

That's odd.  It doesn't happen to me.  The text in my box scrolls just like it should.  Is it maybe a browser issue?  What browser are you using?

So you can type as much as you want then?  Hmm, it also does it in PM message box too.  No big deal, but that is why, if you notice, that people make seperate posts in their dynastys.  Actually for the dynasty, it is probably better to make more smaller ones, it doesn't seem to drag it out so much and I think it gives readers a break in the reading. :D

Pam-  I use IE8.  I noticed that both you and Metro do really long dynasty posts, and I also know that you two would notice this if it happened to you, so that's why I figured it might be a setting issue somewhere.  I'm curious to know which browser you use?
