Game glitched weirdly
« on: May 05, 2014, 09:35:31 AM »

As you can see, my game is glitched pretty weirdly. All my money's gone, can't see the sim, can't control my sim, and can't look at any info about the sim. The game will still continue normally, I just can't control anything.
Tried restarting and loading the backup save, didn't help.

Welcome to our Forum.

I don't think this will really help, but we have to start somewhere.  Did you try resetting your Sim?

Yeah, I did actually try resetting the sim, it didn't really do anything.

It's odd that restarting the game didn't fix it.  Or even resetting the sim.  I'm not sure what to suggest without using a mod to try to figure out what has borked this save.

Did you try restarting? I don't see where you state that. Also have you gone to edit town and back?

That looks like corruption.

What neighborhood is your Sim in?
Do you use Mods or CC (be as specific as possible if you do have them)?
How long have you been playing in this particular save file prior to this?
Give me a general list of EVERYTHING you've done. I know it sounds silly, but even if you just went out to the Main Menu and back I need to know what's been tried so I don't ask again.
Did any of the above partially work? (Did it bring back any portion of the game at all?)
Have you tried a factory reset?

Island Paradise
Nraas woohooer is the only one
Like, over 6-7 hours
I've tried loading the back up, resetting my sim, restarting my game. None of them did anything.
I have not tried a factory reset yet.

Well, I would try a factory reset first, and if you're comfortable with mods, Errortrap and Overwatch might be able to fix the corruption problem, but even if it did fix the issues, I would highly recommend that you move your Sims to a new save and start from there to prevent the corruption from happening again.

Here is where you can read up on factory resets.
I'm not sure if a Factory Reset would fix a save though, however I know that Errortrap and Overwatch are built to help fix corruption.
Here's Crinrict's Empty UI bug report. It's mainly for vacation towns, but some may be applicable here:

Hello, like the poster above me I would also reccomend Overwatch and Error trap, they usually help to prevent sims getting stuck.

Also, have you tried just loading your back up save?
Go to This Pc > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves.
It'll have 2 folders for each of your save files.
So for instance:

Island paradise.sims3
and
Island paradise.sims3.backup

Delete the top one of the two.
Then on the second one click rename and just delete the ".backup" section of the name.

This has worked for me a few times when a save file has messed up.
It could be that your save file is just corrupted.

Welp, I ended up fixing it with a completely unrelated solution. I ended up taking all the NHD's and Package files from my backup, put it in the current, and had errortrap installed. It ended up putting me exactly where my new save was, but fixing the problems.

Thanks for the suggestions and trying to help though!
