Introduction.

"Oh my, what is that?" Bennie Dean asked on day 1 of a new game file.

"I don't know, but I'm outta here," Henry McGlumm replied, "wanna pillow fight, Ben?"

"Anything if it means I don't have to look at that!" Bennie said, pointing towards the taxi that was just pulling up to their door and the figure that was stepping out of it.

Bennie and Henry made a quick escape into the house, Melvin though, wasn't as ... fortunate as the two of them, and he had to turn and take in the ... person that was descending upon him. It was a she, he assumed, at least the person seemed to be dressed in what appeared to be a dress.

"Oh hi," the person said, and from the voice, Melvin was certain it was a female, "my name is Phlegah Spirin."

"Oh hello, you are new here, aren't you?" Melvin replied, that being the kindest thing he could say to her.

"Oh yes, just newly arrived," Phlegah said, "I did want to live in Midnight Hollow, but they thought I should instead live here. in Riverview. I'm so very pleased to meet you. Say, I'm going to be a famous superstar actor one day, what do you do for a living? And do you know any celebrities? I'm sure that they'll want to help me in starting out my acting career."

"Ah, I see," Melvin said, "umm, I'm a scientist. Are you sure you should be that colour green? Is it really natural?"

"It is for me, Melvy," Phlegan answered, "I was asked that on The Face Simnation last week, you know."

"Oh yes, I remember that, you set a new record, I believe?" Melvin asked.

"I did indeed," Phlegah replied, "I was voted out by the judges within the first five seconds of being on that show. I can't believe the jealousy those judges had. They really dislike the colour green for some reason, I'm sure that you don't feel that way, do you Melvy?"

Phlegah reached out one of her hands for Melvin's cheeks, and he thought, 'wait, is she flirting with me?' He remembered the episode well Bernie's son was over watching the episode with them, and the swimsuit shot of his ... guest ... scarred them all for life.

"Umm, well, I do prefer white," Melvin replied, wishing he could get away from her.

"Oh white, yeah that's a good colour as well, Melvy. Say Melvy, are there any vampires or witches or fairies or werewolves around? I just love the supernatural!" Phlegah continued to gush.

"I think we'll know about that for sure tomorrow. But if you really want to see the supernatural, maybe Moonlight Falls or even Bridgeport would be better for you," Melvin replied, "say, it is hot out here, I'm sure you've got somewhere to go, don't let me keep you!"

"Oh thank you, thank you, Melvy," Phlegah said, "you are such a treasure inviting me inside your house. I tried Moonlight Falls and Bridgeport. Elvira chased me out of Bridgeport, and the Crumplebottom sisters of Moonlight Falls threatened to curse me if I set foot in their town. As I said, such prejudice against someone for being green. It aint easy being green, you know."

Phlegah pushed past Melvin and entered his house. Bennie and Henry were in the midst of their pillow fight, but made themselves scarce when Phlegah entered. Melvin was forced to stay with the unwanted guest.

"There are lots of people around Riverview, Ms Spirin," Melvin tried again, "and restaurants and libraries and art galleries and gyms. Why don't you go to one of them and see if you have any more luck."

"Oh! Of course, I should be seen out in public, my fans deserve to see me. And of course, Melvy you'll come with me. I'll buy you lunch for the great kindness you've shown me." Phlegah said.

"Ummm, that's not necessary Ms Spirin," Melvin tried once more, "I'm not hungry at all."

"Nonsense! Of course you're hungry. I know what you're thinking, I'm an actress and so I must be poor, but no, I'm not poor. And besides, you could do with a bit of colour to your cheeks, you cute man you," Phlegah said, oblivious to what Melvin was trying to say, "come along Melvy, you can drive!"

Melvin sighed but followed her out and got into the car. He drove to the Bistro and hoped for a table in the back corner, but no, she just had to get a table just inside the front door of the bistro, in full view of everyone coming in. Sims came to the door, saw Phlegah and left hurriedly. The Lobos twins ran out screaming and crying and even Lucky Perkins avoided looking too closely at Phlegah.

"They are obviously overcome by seeing us together, Melvy. Say, why don't you give me a compliment? I just love compliments!" Phlegah said, still totally oblivious to what was happening.

Melvin had to put a stop to this, right here, right now. So, even while she was paying for their meals, he was putting his words into place. "They are overcome by you, Ms Spirin, and my name isn't Melvy, it is Melvin, or Mr Taft. I am not going to feed your ego, you maybe used to people fawning over you and catering to your every whim, but that isn't the way we do things here in Riverview. You are an overly dramatic diva and ..."

Phlegah gasped at his words and slapped him across the face.

"How dare you Mr Taft, how dare you?" and her voice raised effortlessly through the octaves, "Good bye Mr Taft, and I hope that when I am famous you think back on how you treated me this day and you feel ashamed of your dislike for me because I am green."

Phlegah left at that point and headed towards a nearby garden where she could get some seeds and produce.

It wasn't her fault, not everyone could be the Sim Nation Beauty Queen.

Oh my...the first couple of pictures didn't do your founder, um, justice? Yeah, justice...we'll just go with that.

I like where this is going, and if you're leaning towards Mr. Taft as a helper or possible spouse, that's an equally inspired choice. :D

Thank you Tiamet and Smartburn. Phlegah Spirin is an orc character I use elsewhere around the web, she is typically an orcish mage. Orcs tend to have pig-like snouts, so I went for that with her.

Chapter 1 - A Companion

Phlegah carefully picked up the mini-suns that were laying on the ground and sold them for quite a bit of money. As she turned her attention to the seeds and plants, she became aware that she was not alone.

A lady, Phlegah judged her older than herself began to head towards Phlegah.

"Hello, I'm trying to get on the town council and I need your support to get me there, tell me what you'd like and I'll do my best to attend to it for you," the woman said.

"I ... err ..." Phlegah began, flabbergasted, "I am Phlegah Spirin, and why aren't you reacting to me being green?"

"Why would I care what colour you are? You are a resident, and you vote, I'm here to get your vote. My name is Lorraine Cantina and I am a candidate for the town council," Lorraine explained, smiling.

"Oh, I see," Phlegah stumbled over her words, and she wiped her hands on her dress, "well, I am pleased to meet you, Lorraine Cantina. Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself, like me, I see that you are charismatic."

"Oh yes, Phlegah," Lorraine agreed, "and friendly and neat. And from what you are saying, you don't exactly have a lot of friends, do you?"

"No I don't," Phlegah sighed, "but I need friends, if I understand properly, six of them, and I need to own some things, buy some things, supermax a skill, earn some things, be at the top of a career and be painted."

"Oh, you are doing one of those 'immortal dynasties', aren't you?" Lorraine asked, and it seemed to Phlegah that the politician may have been perking up a bit, "I've always wanted to be in one of those. Painting has long been a secret desire of mine. Dear, why don't we have some dinner, and we can talk further."

So, for the second time on the first day, Phlegah shared a meal with someone, but unlike Mr Taft, Lorraine didn't act inappropriately, and Phlegah knew that with a bit of work, Lorraine could be one of her best friends and paint her portraits.

"So, Lorraine," Phlegah began after the meal, "so, I was wondering, would you like to come and live with me, and you can do the paintings and talk to me and laugh at my jokes and be one of my best friends and so forth."

"Yes, I would like that, Phle," Lorraine answered, "if I had a car you could sell it, but you can sell the camera and books I'm carrying."

"Thank you Lorraine, you are a great friend," Phlegah gave her friend a hug.

As you can see, George Dean is studiously examining the building as he walks past Phlegah and Lorraine. Each sim that went past them, did that same action, just reinforces Phlegah's feelings of limited self wealth, really.

While Lorraine took a taxi to the block of land owned by Phlegah, Phlegah was caught in the web of a long haired man dressed in a white suit that wanted to tell her ghost stories. Missing the stories of Sage Artimidor, she sat down to listen to the tale.

Afterwards he told her his name was Yuri Ivanov and he was flirting with her, Phlegah was taken aback, that had NEVER happened before to her.

She was falling for him, but when he admitted that he was married, she pulled away, she wasn't going to break up a marriage, not even if he was the only male in town who wouldn't stay away from her. She fled and headed to her field.

Lorraine had already sold her things and the little suns, and had built a rectangle split into a hallway and 3 rooms. She explained her concept for the house to Phlegah and the founder nodded her agreement with the suggested plans.

Lorraine headed for the easel to begin painting, and Phlegah went outside to plant some of the produce she had picked.

The next morning, Lorraine went to Phlegah.
"I was thinking while painting, and you need a spouse and some extra helpers. Gardening and fishing and cooking are needed, and I can't do any of those. I always got pizza in back at my house or ate out at the bistro or diner. There are three elderly gents that live together, Bernie Dean, Henry McGlumm and ..."

"Melvin Taft," Phlegah completed Lorraine's sentence, and shook her head "no, not them. Mr Taft was quite rude to me and inappropriate."

"They garden, fish and cook and Henry is a witch as well, which gives us alchemy for potions that you might find useful," Lorraine suddenly reached out and grabbed Phlegah, "trust me, dear, they'll do wonders for us." A sudden beeping from outside drew Lorraine's attention, and she let go of Phlegah, "that's my ride, must be off. Talk tonight."

Phlegah watched as Lorraine left, sighed and pulled herself up to her full height. It wasn't a pleasant job, but she had to do it, and if she was lucky, she might miss out on having to speak to Mr Taft again. First though, she would go and take a lesson in the skill that would be her supermax.

A Decision

For the second time in as many days, Phlegah found herself outside the Grandpa's house. Melvin wasn't out the front of the house today.

Bennie and Henry were there, however and Phlegah tried out the lessons she learned at the town hall on the two gents.

Apparently she did something right, because despite the look of terror that went over both of their faces, neither man tried to get away from her.

"My friend, Lorraine Cantina asked me to come back to your house and ask the two of you as well as Mr Taft to come and live with Lorraine and myself. Mr Dean, I'll be more than happy for you to cook if you would like to do so. Mr McGlum, we've bought an alchemy set for your very own use, and we have also purchased a science station and chemistry set for Mr Taft's use. All I ask is that the three of you fish and garden as well as your other interests," Phlegah said.

"And why would we be wanting to do that?" Bennie asked.

"Because, Mr Dean, I have the feeling that Lorraine will be asking me to return here each day until you agree to do it. Why don't you save yourselves and me the trouble and agree to move in now? Lorraine is a determined lady, and I don't think she's used to 'no' as an answer." Phlegah smiled as she said that.

Bennie and Henry looked at each other, "well, she did say there was an alchemy station," Henry commented thoughtfully.

"And that I can cook," added Bennie, "say, Ms Spirin, there is a new type of oven, a Baker's Station for the baking of delicious pastries. Will that be part of the kitchen? I used to be a real whiz on chocolate cakes."

"Of course we purchased one," Phlegah confirmed, and was overjoyed to see the excitement that touched Bennie's face at that news.

"Well then, Ms Spirin," Henry said, "we're both in, and we'll talk Mervin around as well. You will have the three of us with you engaging in our favourite past times."

"Excellent," Phlegah said, rubbing her hands together in a very Mr Burns-like manner, "one of you tell Mr Taft the news, and I'll prepare your sleeping quarters, welcome to the Spirin Family Household, you'll be part of it for all your lives. And there's one more thing. One of the three of you will be marrying me and giving birth to my heir. We'll probably fall in love, but that's not the most important thing, the important thing is that my line continues."

Bennie and Henry looked at each other, alarmed and both shuddered despite themselves and despite the warm day.

So once the three elderly gents moved in, the household got into a routine ...

Cooking and Learning Recipes, Learning about Science, Mixing alchemical potions, Painting, Fishing and Gardening.

Phlegah considered the three men and went and spoke with them privately.

She made her decision. She pulled him to her. She leaned in to kiss him. He rejected her kiss.

So she had to work up to it again.
Eventually, he accepted the kisses and then her proposal of marriage and eventually they got friendly in their bed and an all in one bathroom.

In time, Phlegah started to get sick each morning.

Doctor Wilson told her that she was pregnant and the household was excited at the news. Phlegah was pleased with her decision on her husband.

While she was at the elixir consignment store, her contractions commenced and in between shouting at Phlegah to get to the hospital, the merchant contacted the hospital and then the soon-to-be new father.

Bennie Dean rushed to the hospital to be with his wife and to welcome Generation 2 into the family and wondered
- Would it be a boy or a girl?
- Would the heir be green or dark skinned?
- How much of the heir's mother's unique features be gifted onto the heir?
- Would the game play fair for the watcher?

Wait for the next chapter to find out!

Thanks for reading and commenting Marian!

Seen to be Green ...

Phlegah was excited, she was going home with her husband and children. She got out of hospital with a basket ...

And she walked in through the front door of their house with a basket.

Phlegah and Bennie had three children ... and in the style of top ten shows, they will be revealed in reverse order ...

Third to be born was a son, Tharoc 'Wargrider' Spirin, he was friendly and a genius.1

Second to be born was a daughter, Lursor 'Duras' Spirin, she was artistic and eccentric.2

First to be born was their heir and daughter, Oranpai 'Cat' Spirin, she was artistic and a genius.3

Between snuggling, playing with, feeding and swinging their children, it was a tiring job for the new parents.

Thankfully for them, their housemates helped, in fact they seemed to insist on spending time with the three green additions to the family.

And just because I can, take a look at their GREENhouse.

Yank thou for your comment, honeylamb.

I've never had triplets before, and here I was hoping to get Lorraine pregnant as well. She becomes an elder in 8 days.

1 Tharoc 'Wargrider' was a friend of mine from another forum online who was known to all as Tharoc. He sadly died in hospital of complications from surgery. He played a half orc who rode a warg.
2 Lursor 'Duras' is named for one of the klingon sisters of Duras from Star Trek TNG fame. As a teenage boy growing up, I founder her rather interesting.
3 Phlegah normally has a cat named Pai Oran whenever she appears. Oranpai 'Cat' is a reference to her, I changed the order of names so I don't get confused between them. :)

Well Gen 2 age up to toddlers today in game ... and let's just say there's no doubting who their mummy is, at least with regards to the heir. Sadly, I have to go get ready for work, so I'll post the pictures later when I do the proper update, I just wanted to share that exciting news :)

@ KRae LOL, I'll do better next time :)

Toddler Vogue

Well, Oranpai, Lursor and Tharoc became toddlers today and so their daddy Bennie baked each of them a chocolate birthday cake.

Oranpai had her birthday in the morning, because she's the heir and the Watcher decided that would be the best time for it, plus it gave her a bit of time with daddy and mummy while her brother and sister were still nooboos.

It also gave her the chance to get a headstart on her necessary toddler skills.

As such, she got made over first, and here are the photos that the photographer from Toddler Vogue took of the event.

Firstly her headshot.

And then her showing off her clothing choices.

Everyday

Sleeping
Outerwear

In the evening after all the grownups got home from work (Melvin, Lorraine and Phlegah got promoted, thank you very much :D), the other two members of the triplets celebrated their birthdays. Once again the photographer for Toddler Vogue was there to take the following photographs.

Firstly Lursor ...

and then Tharoc

As you can see, mummy's features shine through. :)

To celebrate, and to deal with the nightmare that the Watcher had one night1 Phlegah learned a new skill ...

and Phlegah and Bennie had a date night, leaving the kids in the capable hands of Lorraine, Henry and Melvin.

1 The nightmare involved Oranpai managing to reach level 10 in charisma skill, wrecking Phlegah's supermax of charisma. So, I decided that I should get Phlegah to do another skill, and then decided that Mixology, a skill I've never tried before, would be the one to do.
