Expansions of Bottom of Launcher Disappeared
« on: May 03, 2014, 05:47:10 PM »
I play sims on a Mac and the other day I received the "Disk Authorization Failure" message. I had had the problem before, but last time I just installed a newer expansion pack and the message stopped appearing, so I figured it would go away again by installing another expansion. I was playing on Seasons so I added the Town Life Stuff Pack which is older than Seasons but I hoped it would still work. After it installed I put the Seasons disk back in (since it was still the most recent expansion) and opened the launcher. However, most of the expansion packs had disappeared on the bottom. I don't mean that they became faded again, but every expansion after Town Life just wasn't there. I tried to go ahead and play but now my computer doesn't think that Seasons, Pets, or basically any expansion that I have after Town Life exists. I uninstalled Town Life but nothing changed, and I just did a factory reset but it still won't recognize anything after Town Life. Is there anything I can do? I'd prefer to not have to uninstall and reinstall everything but I will if that's what I have to do.

I wonder if the Superpatch would help you?

Either that or maybe installing the expansion you have that is the most recent.  That might fix it...

I would recommend doing a complete uninstall and reinstall. It's going to be painful, but you should try to do it in the order of which you got the expansions.
Also, I would highly recommend using the Origin download versions of them rather than the disks. So long as you have all your expansions registered you should be able to download them from origin rather than using a disk.

Try that and let us know if that helps at all.

Here's a helpful guide on what you should do to prepare for an uninstall/reinstall.

I'm using Mac and this problem appeared during installation too. I can't found anyway to solve it except complete reinstallation.
However, I suggest to open the launcher and have a glance after every EP/SP is installed. If any EP/SP installed are not show, start the complete reinstallation again. Continue to install other EP/SP will not help.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

Welcome too our Forum.

I agree that a complete re-install is probably the only solution.  However, I think you should install the expansions in the order in which they were released.  It's ok to add expansions out of order when you first buy them, but for a major event like this, I'd go with the release date order.  Also, as painful as it is, it's a good idea to re-install your game periodically.  We would typically recommend doing it with every new release, but now that there are no new releases coming, I recommend doing it every few months.
