Which town to play in for this to be possible?
« on: April 26, 2014, 02:24:16 AM »
OK, some background information first. I have all the EPs and SPs plus all the Store Content.

I am planning to start a new game whereby my Sim has the potential to max out all the skill levels plus reach level 10 of every career in the game like scuba diving, collection, photography, etc.

The question is, which town should I play in for this to be possible? Is this an impossible feat? Or should I constantly edit my town to make this possible?

The reason why I am attempting to do this is because I want to have the best possible gameplay experience in Sims 3! Please advise! Thanks!

Hi Blanchflower,

Since you want to max out all the skills, I would say that you should pick Isla Paradiso as it's the only town (as far as I know) that you can use by default to level up your diving skill. Unless, of course, you're going to edit the towns meticulously to be able to max everything.

Another option would be to start off in whichever town specialises in something (ie. the town the expansion came with) and then move to other towns whenever possible.

Hope this helps!

Thanks but the problem with moving to other towns is that some of the collections a Sim does like analysing rocks will be reverted back to a lower number. The same goes for the photograph Shutternut challenge.

This annoying bug is indeed a game breaker. That is why I would want to avoid at all cost to move my Sim to another town after playing the game for a couple of Sim weeks.

Well I found a great town over the Internet. The link is here: http://simfans.de/specials/newsunsetvalley2013/index2.php

Basically this town incorporates all the buildings form every EPs! I think this town would solve my dilemma!

@Blanchflower,
The analyzed rocks bug was fixed with patch 1.50 (unlike the fireflies) and the shutternut one does only happen if you complete a collection in a vacation world (or university/future) and then return home. The value will be fixed if you move to a new world. Also, you can level up your diving skills in every town (which has pools/an ocean) - you just can't complete some challenges.

p.s. number of different combinations (nectar making) will only reset if you haven't served any Sims in your lifetime.

OK, I am having a slight problem here. This is the first time I am downloading a new world for my Sims 3 game. I downloaded the zip file and extracted the contents to Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3/Saves. But I am not seeing the new world in my game when I add a new game.

Moreover, there was no downloading activity at my launcher. I am confused. Please advise! Thanks!

You don't have to move the contents to Saves (this directory is only for saved games such as Amandieu's translated addition). Simply download, extract and double click your sims3pack.

Extract to which Sims 3 folder?

Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3/Downloads would be the best directory if you don't want two copies of your sims3pack (but you could also extract to the folder where the zip is loctated and execute it from there).

Yes, now I know what my problem was. I did not download and install the world first. Once I did that, I put the English version on my save file and it worked!

Thanks!

I downloaded this world, and while it's wonderfully realized, I found myself getting major stuttering after only a few days...  I downloaded Overwatch, a mod to clean up loose things and reset sims whom are stuck around the world.  Every morning at 3 when it checks I'm getting 40-ish sims with routing errors.  I activated the logging option, and after a single night I logged 1600+ errors.

I can get by with only reasonable errors for a good week, but then suddenly all at once things just come to a halt, I'm not sure where in the world this is being caused or why.

Do you guys get by in this world alright?  I had just updated to the newest game version, and disabled/removed all my old mods before adding this world.  I tried opening it in CAW to check out the routing but the world won't open... It seems as though it's incompatible with the newest patch... but if you guys are running it fine then???

Edit: in the mean time, I've found this website with a bunch of seemingly really well crafted worlds with all the expansions included, I'm going to try them out to see if they work any better.  You might be interested in them as well OP

Edit2: After 20 days in Evensdale, everything is going smooth as can be, very high quality work on this one too, I'd suggest it over New Sunset Valley even if it weren't for the routing.

I have decided to play Sims 3 again after a long break and when I try to download this world, it does not exist. Is there any other world that includes everything without having to change worlds?
