Can you drive Fast Lane cars?

My first post here, so I'm not sure if it's in the right place, please move if it should be somewhere else.

Anyway, I installed Fast Lane today and I'm having a problem with my cars. With the pre-Fast Lane cars, you have to put them on a parking space. When I try to put my Fast Lane cars on the parking space, I'm told I can't intersect objects.

I can place them without the parking space, but I still get taxis everywhere, ie, I'm not driving them. Also, when I click on them, nothing happens.

Have you got moveobjects on? As I don't think you should be able to place a car without a parking space?

Nope, my pre-Fast Lane cars will only work on parking spaces.

Also, when I hover over the car, it says sims3.gameplay.vehicles.nameofcar whereas when I hover over a pre-Fast Lane car, it says nameofcar.

It sounds like you have a game glitch.  Have you checked the Sims 3 forum to see what kind of glitches they are having with Fast Lane?  Sorry I can't be of much help here, I don't have Fast Lane and am not updated to the most recent update either.

Have you tried re-installing? But before you do go here to make a back-up of your families/games If not go here to save a copy of your favourite/main family.

As samoht04 mentioned, be sure you don't have the MoveObjects cheat turned on.  And if it's a glitch, you'll probably have to reinstall Fast Lane.  Before you do anything, though, close your game and restart it.  See if that resets everything.
