Computer Wipe Advice
« on: April 22, 2014, 02:54:35 PM »
Long story short, my laptop may have to be wiped and the OS completely reinstalled due to something wrong in the latest Microsoft update to Win 8.1.

So I could use some advice as to what sims 3 related files I should back up onto a flash drive and what size flash drive should I get [I'm thinking at least 8-10GB, mostly to also store some other items]?

Hi Axiom,

I've wrote up a little write up on what to back up to use on a different computer and/or backup. It maybe just what you're looking for.

How To: Saving folders/files to use on a different computer or to use as backup

As for how big of a drive to get? I don't know. As I'm not familiar with flash drives. But I'd have to say whatever size you get, you could always keep backups on it.

Hope this helps, :)

There was another question I had... when I back up my stuff to the flash drive, does that include all the Expansions, Stuff Packs and Store content I downloaded and installed?

Yes the backup should include all expansions, stuff pack stuff and store items that have been downloaded and installed.

If the store items have only been downloaded. Then they should be in the downloads folder. If you've downloaded and installed store items, they should be stored in the DCCache folder.
