I've never played the Sims 1 or the Sims 2.
My first Sims 3 family were CAS Ingleside family. There was a single mother and her children, a teenager and a child. Her LTW was to be Master of the Arts, which I never accomplished because I didn't know how, and because she died prematurely. I built their own house, using cheats, and they moved alot, eventually living at the really expensive house on Sun Song Ave? That house was a premade one, the one with a small second floor as a studio. I played with aging off. Anyway, the mother joined the Politics career and the children went to school. The mother got to around level 5 in the Political career when disaster struck. One weekend, the Ingleside family went to the gym. The mother and teenager went on the treadmills, and the child went to the swimming pool. After the mother became fatigued, there was a wish to go to the community pool. I sent them there, and they each had a sandwich. After, they all went into the pool to swim. I went to check the child's needs and suddenly everyone was climbing out of the pool. I didn't understand what happened, so I sent them back in. They kept climbing back out and suddenly on the Sim's panel thing the mother was a water ghost. She had somehow drowned when I wasn't looking for ONE second.  :o Her energy levels were quite high, and her hunger levels was full to the max. Everyone was mourning while the Grim Reaper took the mother. The teenager and child stayed at the pool for the rest of the day, mourning all the time and only stopping for a sandwich. They eventually got home at 2am, and hugged each other for the rest of the night, occasionally napping on the couch. (Yes, I'm sentimental like that.) The next day, they went back to school and I closed the game, and deleted the file. It was my first experience with Death and I was so shocked that now, I'm overly paranoid of swimming pools, and the Grim Reaper. I always play with aging off now.

My 1st sim ever was Georgina (no can't remember surname).  I made her in Sims 1 and played her for ages.  She had a boyfriend but never got married because that would have decreased her friend count which she needed for her job.  I think I made her a scientist but it's been a while   :D.  I then went on to play the Newbies and several other of the pre-made families.  This thread has *almost* made me want to reinstall Sims 1 just to remember the game again, I'm finding that I keep mixing up S1 and S2 in my head.

Brandi Broke was definitely a fun character in S2 but I made loads of new houses and populated them so that I could play different types of games, I even tried to create my own town layout using Sim City 4 but that wasn't very successful.

Wow, big nostalgia trip  ;D

@Choccolatee:

In case you don't know, the reason the mother drowned is because she was fatigued.  Her energy and hunger bars don't matter.  If a Sim has the fatigued moodlet, there's a good chance he/she will drown in the pool.  That's probably why she was getting out of the pool, too.  I can certainly understand why you prefer to play with aging turned off after something like that!

Yeah, that was depressing AND scary. My first family coming to an end like that.  :(
Aging off is awesome. I just turn it on sometimes to age up the babies and toddlers.

You can age them up with birthday cake without turning aging on.

Like a few others, mine was the Newbies.  Wow they were ugly.

The Sims makes me laugh so much when you see how far the game has come graphic wise XD

I didn't know that before, and at that time I was trying to make a family of 5 kids. Just two parents, from scratch. I was really really poor back then so I had to turn aging on.  ;D

I think that the Characters may have been my first Family... shocking I know for someone who has never played a Legacy. I call them my first family since they survived for longer than a week. I had always wanted to do a legacy and you may be wondering why I started after Christmas if I got the Game when it came out, it's because my computer broke and I wasn't allowed a new one just because it didn't play sims. Then I got a brand new computer for Christmas and I went straight into a legacy.

Oh my goodness, I remember the first time I ever played the sims it was on an old computer and it was so hard. Then when they upgraded it just a little bit I made a family with my ex as a character, sadly he died in the first few days "fire", I swear I tried to help him, lol. but I had a good time playing and I still do.

First Sims family in The Sims 3, or in The Sims 1? If it is the last one I can't remember. No. I was just 13 though, so that is to long ago.

My first family in The Sims 3 however has to be the one I like to play with since: Familie Duit. Two people where in it, Timon and Mindy. Timon was at the end of his live Leader of the Free World and got payed over 12.000 simoleons per day if I remember me that correctly. And if he got nothing to do he writes books.
And Mindy was first a coock and later a Nutty Professor (forgot the real word).

My first Sims 3 family was Smooth Criminal.
The other day, I scrolled through the created families I had made, and I came across a family consisting of Michael Jackson, six fellow dancers, and one lovely lady as a dance partner.
I thought it was just when I was going through my obsession of MJ, when I remembered my university music project, where I used my video-making skills and the Sims 3 to create a version of Smooth Criminal. I built a bar and somehow managed to pull off some 80s Mafia costumes, get a good shoot, edit it, and put it together. I got some karaoke of Smooth Criminal and then recorded myself at my school's green-screen recording studio and recorded myself singing Smooth Criminal. I pulled off a half-screen, special FX vid, and I passed with A+.
I officially call that family my good luck charm! :)
I never delete it.
