Assuming I read the fine print correctly, a person is unfortunately out of luck.

GOOD ONLY FOR NEW DIGITAL PURCHASES OF THE SIMS 3 EXPANSION PACKS FROM THE ORIGIN STORE AT WWW.ORIGIN.COM AND THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE (WWW.ORIGIN.COM/ABOUT).

Such a bummer, though.  Most of my Sims 3 purchases have been through Origin.

I feel like we've earned that stuff for being loyal and buying everything when they first come out (or preordering it). I wish EA would show some love to their super loyal fans. Tis ok though, because like every super loyal fan there is I've already gone and blown some more money buying out their store now that everything is on sale, including most of what was on that list.

I think this is mostly an attempt to get as much money as they can before 4 comes out.
