Thank goodness we get two venues as I'm hopeless at building ;)

I held off on the most recent sets, spent all my points on goodie boxes and daily deals, but this one really interests me enough to get some more, I look forward to seeing more pics of the interior, but the exterior looks stunning and I love the fact we will get two versions, I can already imagine uses for the run down version.

Ordinarily, I don't know if this set would tempt me (aside from the curved stairs), but all of the broken "now" objects would be so much fun to use in Midnight Hollow! Haunted house . . . rundown bed and breakfast . . . so many neat ideas. The ironwork fence is lovely, too, and the chandelier with a separate chain, and those paintings and cobwebs. Oh, who am I kidding? It's a gorgeous set.  ;D

I've bought the set, primarily for the stair pieces.  But there's a couple things, so far, that bug me about the set.

1.  The 'tower' is just a very large decorative item.  So not a usable part of the house.

2.  The matching fence to the stair rails doesn't line up with the stairs.

You would think they could have made this better.

I can see those stairs driving my alignment fixation to distraction  ??? I haven't bought it yet as I was checking what people were saying about it first, I've seen a few minor niggles about the stairs, clipping issues and now what you have shown Dellena.

Overall though I'm still interested, I personally think I would have more use for the now removed L shaped stairs than the sweeping staircase, I have used the Prism Studio ones quite a lot.

As for the tower I realised that was decorative, it looks nice when you see the entire build but I can't help wondering how in the way it might be while playing, I bought Roaring Heights during the 50% sale on Origin and the faux high rise top didn't seem to vanish when I looked into one of those builds, maybe that was something I failed to do but I ended up choosing a different home to put my sims in, I hope this isn't constantly floating in the air when I'm on the ground floor like that was.

If so I might remove it and build a tower the old fashioned way, with normal walls.

Another 'distraction' is seen here with the stairs and the decor rails:

1.  Both are using the exact same wood texture (a base game one) but the decor 'rail' is darker.

2.  There is texture tearing between the two objects.

I'm going to have to stick with carpet on the stairs to offset some of this.

I have bought the venue now and after seeing your post I looked closely at the stairs in the house, they are the same so they must have known they didn't line up, you can tell they used alt to slide them in place and try to align it a bit better.

I find that happens sometimes with objects, the lighting on the models differs a little, sometimes just lightening or darkening the colour of one till they match better works, sometimes it doesn't help at all.

I see you have the chandelier in you picture, when I first saw that after they removed the L shaped stairs I wasn't sure about it, just not to my taste, In game I like it even less, I was disappointed that the "arms" are flat 2D alphad textures instead of solid things like the base game candle chandelier, which if I use the house to live in I think I shall replace the new one with, either that or that nice crystal one from the Glitter and Glam set.

On a more positive note though the rest of it I love, the Now manor is almost creepy and I like the clever usage of missing flooring, I think if I used the Then version to live in I would change some of the decor, I understand they have to use base game only which is fine but I have a ton of stuff that would look great in a house like that and might as well make use of it.

I was also trying to think if I could use those roof pieces on my dynasty house, which I shall be rebuilding for the umpteenth time today  ::) I have a fake mansard section in the middle connecting the two halves using a frieze and the half hipped roof, they might be too high though, I'll have to see. I do find they obscure the view in the venues attic but not so badly, you can always angle the camera down slightly and the tower isn't too obtrusive either which is something I had feared.
