I feel the game is too easy, and I feel item pricing should be more true to real life and not feel pointless. :P
Bills shouldn't be $120 every three days, when I get three times that much with my career. Also, I shouldn't be able to buy a car for $980. And what's worse, I'm able to have an infinite supply of food without paying for it (the 'Have Quick Meal' option). Just two dishes and your Hunger is full. It defeats the purpose of the Cooking skill.

I want to feel like I'm hurting, not feel I can buy the moon and have just enough to buy a galaxy, as long as I can save. I'm not even giving myself the No Bills Ever trait.
I was hoping StoryProgression's Money module will do this, but I dearly doubt it.

Is there a mod out there to be what I'm looking for?

Don't know about item prices, but Nona Mena has a higher bills mod in a variety of flavors. It's updated to patch 1.67 too.

I'm not sure about a mod to change items prices but you can get a mod for higher bills. Follow this link tos see if it's what you wanting.

I tried the link, it doesn't seem to be supporting NRass mods. When tying to load my save, "A serious error has occurred".
I'm going to assume it's not compatible with StoryProgression.

Any other alternatives would be nice.

The mod is compatible with NRaas mods. Your save is probably corrupted.

@Benie:

You probably already know some of this, but I feel compelled to defend the game a little.

The ability to get a free quick meal from the refrigerator is mostly just to keep your Sims from starving to death during the first days of the game.  When your Sim learns the cooking skill and starts leveling up in it, there will be better quality meals that give your Sim a positive moodlet.  You'll also get wishes to cook certain things, learn new recipes, increase cooking skill, etc. and that will increase your Sim's happiness points.  You'll also get opportunities that will be interesting and challenging sometimes.  Plus, the ingredients for the recipes are not free unless you pick some apples from a community tree or harvest from a community garden.  Even then, you still have to buy the meat, eggs, and cheese unless your Sim is an advanced gardener.

When you buy a car for only $980, you're basically getting a piece of crap car.  There are places in the real world where this is possible.  Look at the cars that cost tens of thousands of Simoleons.  That's pretty realistic.  Spending more and more money to get a nicer house is also realistic.  Also, your bills may be $120 every three days, but that's for a very small house with not much stuff.  The more expensive your house is, the more the bills will be.  My current Sim's bills are almost $1,000.

You may be able to keep your Sim alive without spending much money, but you're missing a big part of the game by doing so.  How happy is your Sim?  Is he piled up with positive moodlets and in a fantastic mood all the time?  I would guess not if you're only scraping by with the cheapest of everything.  The general intention of the game is for your Sim to learn, improve, earn more money, and move up in the world.  If you're deliberately playing in poverty as a personal challenge, it's perfectly fine, of course.  I just want to make sure you know that things increase in price and move along as your Sim continues his life journey.  :)

I can assure you it's not corrupted, as I'm able to play it no problem. Plus, this is a brand new save. Perhaps there's a different way this mod is installed? All I did was put the .package file into /Mods/Packages.

EDIT: I found the reason it wouldn't work. A corruption in the cache files, not the save (thankfully). One .package file was corrupt. Cleared out the cache and now the mod works.

I can understand this. But to keep that option when your Cooking is at a substantial level, just feels a bit.. cheaty. But it just seems to fall to the ole "Don't like it? Don't use it" answer to people who find a certain game too easy.
I have noticed one thing, yet I'm not exactly sure if this is true. But the Hunger bar seems to go down faster after eating a quick meal, compared to a really great quality meal. Again, not exactly sure if this is true. Other times, my Sim's hunger bar decayed about the same speed as eating a Quick Meal.

Plus, the ingredients for the recipes are not free unless you pick some apples from a community tree or harvest from a community garden.  Even then, you still have to buy the meat, eggs, and cheese unless your Sim is an advanced gardener.
Yes, you're right there. But this goes back to the whole Quick Meal thing. An infinite resource of food.

When you buy a car for only $980, you're basically getting a piece of crap car.  There are places in the real world where this is possible.
Being in the US, this is where I was basing prices. Around where I live, cars usually go for 3,000 or more. And you're right about the more expensive ones. Those are realistic.

How happy is your Sim?  Is he piled up with positive moodlets and in a fantastic mood all the time?  I would guess not if you're only scraping by with the cheapest of everything.
The only time my Sim's happiness ever goes south is if I forget to tend to his basic needs before going to work. Usually, I can have his needs all Green and being in Elated status. And being a Loner helps.

I just want to make sure you know that things increase in price and move along as your Sim continues his life journey.  :)
I'd personally like to see inflation and other real world financial woes happen in The Sims. Everytime I see my sim so happy, it makes me wish I could be living in this perfect world of cheap bills, pets never get sick (that I've seen), hair that never needs to be cut, easy promotions, no skill decay, and being able to spin around to get dressed. :)

This page might have what you're looking for. You need to scroll a bit but there are mods that make some items more expensive and there is one that will increase your bills among other optional things to make other aspects of the game more difficult.

This is off topic for this thread. Did you mean to post this in another thread? :)

It's probably in response to Benie saying pets don't get sick.  It's ok to leave it, I think.

This is likely true.  A quick meal may also not completely fill up a Sim.

Even though the game gets easy as you accomplish certain things, there are still many things you can do that aren't going to be so easy.  And if there's no challenge left for you in the game, we have a Challenge Tournament and multi-generational Dynasty Challenges that will give you a whole new set of challenges to meet.  :)

It was in fact in response to the claim that the pets never get sick.

My mistake -- I read through the thread multiple times and missed that. Sorry!
