Deliciously Indulgent Bakery
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:47:52 PM »
Hey all, I just bought the Deliciously Indulgent Bakery set from the store, and I was wondering how to turn my lot into business/home type thing?
I've been playing around with it a bit, so I've figured most of it out (like how to restock the shelves by myself, which took a bit of trial and error), but I can't figure out how to get people to come to my home lot to buy stuff. I would really love a small at home business type thing for my single mother sim, so she can always at home if the kids need her.

Does anyone know how to do this? (Btw, I've got all of the eps if that helps?) Thanks for any and all help in advance!  ;)

I had this problem and I'm afraid there's only one solution.  You would need to move your sim to a different lot (could be just a 10x10 you put somewhere - although, you'll need to go there and check the mail periodically).  Then change the lot where you have the bakery to a community lot and then you'll have to buy that community lot to own it.  EA has said they won't push inactives to a home lot for a business.  That's why you don't get customers, even if you have the register on the lot.  Either that, or you'll need to make a lot of friends and always be inviting them over.

Hello, it has been a while since I been on this site. I purchased the Deliciously Indulgent Bakery last week and like Dellena my intention was to have a " Bakery" by the side of the road on my farm and have the mother of 5 kids tend the bakery while dad tends the farm. You know a little extra money because sending 5 kids to university is pretty expensive. At the moment we are dirt poor. LOL. However, as Rialla mentioned I must buy/own another lot and built my bakery there.

I was wondering if I could made my farm lot a community lot. Put a fence and gate around farm, house etc.., use the option "allow only me and my household", and in front of the fence build the bakery so that mom does not have to leave the farm lot (saving on babysitter cost)?

Won't work as they have to have a residence that they live in.  If I were you, I'd place a small lot as close as possible to the home lot.  Make it community.  Build it as a bakery and include a back room where she can bring her child to work (if you have the playpen from the store, it's a godsend).

Ok will do as you suggested. I own the play pen. Dad will have to take care of the baby left on the farm (I wonder if he can "hold" the baby while driving the tractor) while mom brings the toddlers with her to work. Actually the back room is a pretty neat idea. How many moms (in the real world) do you know that can bring their kids to work and make money at the same time? Hopefully the bakery will be a success and it will be a breeze to send the kids to University.

Thank you Dellena for the quick response.

If you have the baby swing, you can bring the baby as well. :)  Two toddlers in the playpen and the baby in the swing.  Then they're good until you take them home.  BTW, if dad is actually on the lot, then the kids can be at home - as long as an adult is on the lot.  Also, the mom could bake all the goods at home and then just run over long enough to stock the shelves.

There is a way to make the business into a home business.  You will need to download a mod, this is from Inga, I have tried it and it does work great.  However to the house you may need to lock the doors only accessing the individuals who live there to prevent townies from going into the house and snooping around.
