Like many others, I went with 'sometimes, it depends'.  I've used the move object cheat the create a really cool house, I've reset sims when they've got stuck and I've used kaching, make needs static and buydebug when Metro has said so in the challenges.  I would probably use some of these again if I wanted to play with a particular feature of an expansion pack but didn't want to play for ages to get enough money to acquire a specific item.  Otherwise I mostly play without, for me the fun is in managing my sims so that they do what I want while still tending basic needs, prioritising and managing are an absorbing pastime.

I'm always using cheats, it's a bit of a habit with me now.

I use the one that fills the bars so I can get their skills up without them needing anything, and motherlode because... yay money.

I have cheated ever since the first sims game. It was mostly only money cheats, then with sims 2 I upgraded to the testing cheats, and continued that to sims 3. I have cheated so much I am starting to get bored with it. I love that we can cheat, but I would like to experience the game without it. So yes I use the cheats all the time, but I am going to try to quit. If I can quit smoking I can quit cheating on the sims.

:o :o WHAT?!?! Tired of cheating? Why I've never heard of such a thing! The only way I'm stopping cheating is if Metro poses a challenge so interesting I have to join, but that's the only way!  ;D I don't use the money ones like I used too though! The only one I could never stop (unless like I said above) is teleporting and make needs static!!

I stopped smoking several times over the past 25+ years but it was way easier to quit smoking then trying to stop cheating in this game.  I didn't know what it was like to play a game using the cheats all of the time until Ester showed me the way two months ago.    Now I just use the cheats for teleporting and keeping their needs up, but that is still more than I ever did before.
I often wonder how I ever played without them  ;D.

I am in the same boat!  I am practicing for the upcoming challenge and I miss my cheats.

The only cheat I use is Aging Off because I keep on wanting to play the character and don't want them to die of old age. If my Sim gets stuck, I do not save the game.  :)

That's not really a cheat.  It's just a game setting.

Oh ok, I thought they were cheats. I also use "motherlode" sparingly whenever I need to have a family live in a big mansion after creating them. Otherwise I let them work to earn their own simoleons if they want to buy something or travel, it's part of the fun of playing!  :)

When I first started playing I used cheats quite a lot, but always ended up getting bored. But since I started doing things mostly without (occasionally maxing a need or teleporting because I hate waiting for a Sim to run halfway across town), I've actually had the same family for several sim weeks and earned everything. Makes it much more fun to watch the family and assets grow from making them work.

To cheat, or not to cheat.
That's what I am always wondering if my sim get stuck somewhere.

I play with treats pretty much all the time. I use various treats when building. If you check out the house I have built they all involve cheats one way or another. When I'm playing an actual Sim family I use "kaching" for Sims in need of emergency cash to pay a bill or to get rid of a dishwasher that keeps breaking. I only use "motherlode" when building my Sims homes or moving them into different homes. I find it's very difficult for me to play legacy and dynasty challenges because of this which why I haven't ever successfully managed to make it to the second generation without cheating. I'm trying to get that under control because one day I would love to do a Legacy family from founder to generation ten without cheating, but alas temptation is too great and I find fingers head for those all too familiar "Ctrl+Shift+C" keys and then I end up typing "kaching" a few times. After I realize what I have done, I smash my head on my computer desk, leaving a red mark that hurts every single time.

I think its safe to say I have a problem and I'm not even able to vote yet. (only 17) :-[

I love how you said you play with treats! That is so awesome! I could find Ctrl+Shift+C in my sleep!  ;D Don't bang your head! If you don't want the money, type familyfunds and take it away lol.

I had to cheat to reset Agnes due to her guiter swirling at the end if her arm... I also made her young with buydebug lifefruit and Cornelia and Morty, they clean up quite nicely!
