I only really cheat if I'm building, testing something, or saving a recolour from a premade house or Sim. Or alternately, if the game's being annoying and I think I deserve some slack. Stuck in the high rise for three hours? TELEPORT! Routing issues in the park? RESETSIM! Stranded outside the bathroom while two Sims flirt by the toilet? TESTINGCHEATS UP THAT BLADDER MOTIVE!

Apart from that, I like to earn skills, simoleons, and relationships the old-fashioned way.  :)

Oh my there have been countless times where I have accidentally killed a sim with dragging the hunger bar!
Me too! Oh wait, did you say accidentally? Never mind hehe.
I also control click the bad moodlets away lol! Can't play the game without doing it.
Oh yes! Only one I don't click away is the mourning one when the sims in my Dynasty die. Otherwise, they are all clicked away lol.

I agree on the skills and simoleons. I used to use familyfunds all the time, but than I found I actually like making them work for everything they have. There are a few exceptions, like when I'm in a bad mood, or I don't want to bother with working. Like one game I have all my woman does is party and socialize. Need that familyfunds so she can pay her bills haha.

I click on the LTH for No Bills Ever. Sometimes, I'll do Shift+Click to Delete the Repoman.

I've never used a cheat in Sims 3. The only ones I used in Sims 2 were moveobjects and stuff when something was bugged. I don't even use build cheats.

I do use cheats when building [Motherlode specifically] but, generally I don't use cheats while playing.... unless something like what just happened, happens:
My Superspy had to go into work to examine evidence that took most of his day, question people to keep his job performance up, then he had to disable the Superweapon that the criminals built... By the time he got home his energy level was fairly low [Not to mention his hunger] AND THEN, he has to go into work AGAIN to examine some evidence.

This was all on his day off.

Right now I'm thinking retirement for him.

Hated that career, so I cheated and maxed the motives. YES, I'm a major cheater, the reason I don't do challenges!

I think that in Sims 3 its become impossible to play the game and never enter a cheat code unless you have a love of restarting games every few sim weeks!

The only cheats I ever use have been for correcting bugs within the game so that I can continue play rather than have to abandon the game.  That goes for solo fun play as much as Legacy/dynasty games or challenges.  Oddly searching for ways to fix Sims bugs was how I found this forum in the first place!

This week I started looking at what I'd need for the Clone challenge and turned the MakeNeedsStatic cheat on (as its part of the challenge) so that I knew what I'd be working with.  I'd never used it before then.  I'm pretty certain this will be the only time I use it.  The game seems so much less interesting without the struggle to balance green bars.  I don't have anything against people that find it more fun to play with cheats on, after all if we all had the same tastes this world would be really odd.  I just find that for me it takes most of the enjoyment away.

Not to mention boring.

That would be boring. Like Squidward. ;D

I think cheating has really improved my games and made them less realistic. Sure I like the bits of real life, but making my game more realistic would defeat the whole purpose of Sims: Escaping real life. ;)

Jeana, Squidward isn't boring. He's just a horrifying clarinet player haha.

I've decided to come out and tell everyone something so shocking, so mind-blowing I hope I don't shock the socks off of you all. Only one other person knows this fact.

I started a new game 2 nights ago. Without using cheats. Breathe through your mouth, you'll be ok right guys?  Ok, now. I have had a sim without needs static for the past 2 days. He started as a YA and he's now an elder. Yeah shockingly he's very much alive! And even more awesome, he's maxed gardening, gotten to level 10 in the gardening career, plus supermaxed gardening. He's also fulfilled his LTW of wanting a perfect garden.

You still conscious?? Phew ok, thought I lost you for a minute there! So in closing, I can never again say I can't play without needs static, and can never say I've never done it successfully. If the one person that knows this wants to say something, they can because honestly, without their support and encouragement I would have never kept going when he was doing bad. And for all the others that gave me advice and encouragement and believed I could do it, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
