I use transporter cheat a lot when doing adventures (hate running around picking up rocks) and in Bridgeport when the elevators get stuck.
I also change traits of NPC because some of them have awful traits.

I cheat for those things too. I heavily cheat in my story about Charlie Sheen, because he takes forever (even on the motorcycle I gave him, to go from the clubs to back to his mansion). I did cheat to give him his big home too. However, he has to work for his LTW (Super Popular) on his own, and earn his friends. Not gaining them instantly.

I change the traits too, particularly for the Sims that have the awful Loser trait. That trait just isn't very nice. With Generations installed, I gave Dorie Hart the Rebellious trait in place of her Loser trait, and Gobias Koffi simply has commitment issues instead.

Sometimes I cheat and other times I stay clear of it. I find that I tend to cheat the most when I have had the family grow to big and it takes the fun out since I can't keep them all happy no matter how hard I try. I also liberally use the cheat to add things to other houses when they visit somebody with a toddler with no crib, toys, potty and high chair.
I also prefer the cheat when they are getting a new wardrobe because it's much easier if you want different hairstyles depending on what clothes they wear.

only recently, I stopped playing with cheats on. I've always played with 'set needs static' ever since I got it for PC. I guess I thought that the game would be too hard with no cheats but, it's better without cheats!  :)

Cheating has actually done better for my games. I do cheat for certain purposes, or story lines. Like my Charlie Sheen adventures, I have to cheat, because he already earned his simolions long before he moved into Barnacle Bay. So if he started out poor, there's no value or meaning to him whatsoever. However, Charlie has to make his friends the old fashion way.

So cheating not only improves Sims Lives and helps the poor and misguided, but it also helps with my stories.

Edit in CAS cheat is the most useful cheat ever. However I did try it on the Grisby Family but it just didn't look right. I like them just the way they are.

However, I did give Elaine Joy a Spray Tan, brow lift and some lipo, and she looks amazing.

I might try giving Judy Bunch some lipo and a nose job. ;)

I've come to the realisation, after playing sims with all nasty traits, that not even traits matter when achieving my sim's goals or keeping them happy and well-fed. I find money cheats and mood cheats make the game boring - I've even given up using the moodlet manager and the motive mobile (which makes cheating needless anyway). However, I do use the change traits or edit in CAS cheat if I have forgotten to save my sim to the simbin. It saves a lot of loading time to just change the traits on a pre-made sim.

Aside from that, I use the building cheats frequently. I wish the game had a button I could press for 'placeFriezes', 'constrainfloorelevation' and 'moveobjects'. (now adding that idea to the ideas thread!) I know there is a non-legitimate way to asign shortcut keys, but I don't want to mess up my game.  Oh, and buydebug. There's some marvellous decorating things in there. And, for better screenies or photos you can use the lighting.

I obviously use the 'resetsim' when needed, though when I'm not playing a challenge I might occasionally reset a burglar...
Whilst testing out strategies or finding out about game mechanics for challenges I've used make needs static (in the testing, not the challenge!!!) but that's only a recent thing for me.

I thorougly enjoyed using teleport for the upgrade challenge - that was another first for me - and was a little disappointed at going back to normal travel, but on the whole I find the game much more fun working my way up from nothing.

The cheats I generally use are moveobjects and freerealestate. Once in a while I'll use the control/click to up lifetime points if I really want something like the collection helper. That's about it.

And while we have a cheat thread going on, does anyone have any pointers for the moo cheat? The one problem I have with it is placing one thing on top of the other. Is there a trick to it I've missed? If I place a lamp on a table with moo on it falls through the table.

I usually turn MOO off to place things on surfaces. Otherwise it flicks all over the place and it takes forever to get it to place correctly.

Ok, makes sense, but how then do you do things like stack rocks?
