Help upgrading RAM on my 2008 Mac

Hi,

Your iMac is in fact the 2007 model, not 2008. The 2008 model had either a 2.4Ghz or 2.66Ghz processor, yours has a 2.0Ghz processor. You can double check this by entering your serial number on Apple's support site. That is why the 800Mhz RAM chips weren't working - they are for the 2008 model.

You need 2x 2Gb PC2 - 5300 667Mhz DDR2.

Well I got the new RAM chips and put them in and they work! Thank you so much!

On the downside, the screen is ever so slightly blurry... It's not as crisp and clear as before and it's hurting my eyes to try to keep unblurring everything. Any tips to correct this?

Go to your settings and click the the display icon. See if it's correct for your screen. Sometimes a change can throw things off. Also check the calibration. I have a 2009 iMAC so it shouldn't be too different. Putting in the new RAM wouldn't make the images on your screen look blurry.

Thanks! I played with the settings and got it fixed! Currently downloading my games on it. Also trying to decide on my next expansion pack! I'm leaning towards ambitions...

Today or tomorrow, if I can't find time today, I'm going to move all my saved files from my old computer to the Mac so that I can continue those games! Very excited!
