JUDE AND SUMMER'S STORY: A CHINA ADVENTURE

Hi everybody!  Well, here we are in Shang Simla again!  We so love it here.  Oh, this is Summer speaking and sometimes you might hear Jude, that is if we aren't too busy, (blushing).

My first day there I just wanted to relax.  Jude had this big plan of how he was going to leave here even more in love with me, (which I heartily approve of!), but he was also going to work really, really hard on getting his LTW really a big head start.  He wants this big athletic thingie and I know it's going to take an awful lot of work, so, good luck with that honey!  Here's me in this lovely spot Gran set up for us.  She's the real gardener/landscaper in the family and she is thrilled to have so much to work with!

See?  Isn't it pretty?  You get to hear the occasional splash from the fish in the pond, the sound of the wind in the trees, the river down below just singing it's way into town, and in the distance, the sound of two fabulous waterfalls.  It's really a great place to sit and read and just get away from it all.

Jude immediately got in the swing of things.  He went to the academy and got the basics down pretty fast, and got quite a few nice visa points and such doing it!  Then he began to practice at home.  A LOT!  He really knows what he wants and is not afraid to go for it.  Of course, this left him almost no time for tomb exploring or being a tourist but he seems driven to achieve his goal.

This yellow belt wasn't his first or last either.  By the time we left Shang Simla he had progressed very far up the ranks and had even done some sparring.  Here's a couple of shots of him practicing in a couple of different belts.

I like this shot best of all.  He had worked so hard and just got worn out trying to figure out how to meditate!  He looked so sweet napping here although I doubt it was very comfortable!  He did finally figure out meditation too.

Isn't he just adorable!?  I love him so much.

At one point, Gran had an idea she wanted to try the whole Lara Crofts thing.  Of course, this meant someone had to take care of the garden, and since Jude was right there playing in the sprinklers again, he got "volunteered!"  At least he took it well and worked hard.  Our little China garden is providing really yummy perfect food for us.

BTW, Gran did a gonzo job on the whole tomb raider schtick and managed to reach level 3 Visa!  Oh, and, with a little bit of effort and a LOT of fishing and raiding, so did I!

Ok, so I'm no Angelina Jolie, but I bet I had as much fun doing what I did and she has doing what she does!

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't ALL work!  Somtimes J and I had a lot of fun even while we worked on skills we needed for our music stuff.  (He just wants to play in a band after he gets his LTW and I'm headed for Movie Music Composer).

Every so often though, Mom would get these crazy ideas of how to help us.  She said she really wants grandkids and the best way to have happy, healthy babies is to have happy, healthy bodies.  I guess she thinks working us half to death is part of that, but we humored her anyway.  Besides, it helped J reach his goal as well!

Just look how buff my sweetie is!  Hunkalicious!  Even when, oooops, Gran catches him again.....he's still the most handsome guy in the world.

She says it's all part of the healthy body for healthy babies thing!  Honestly, Gran!

Don't think J was the only one working on his skills.  Here's me doing some performing in the market, and working on the writing my Mom insists I keep doing.  At least it's more time to bond with her and it makes her so happy to be writing right along side of me.  I think she thinks I'm going to be an author.  She just doesn't get it that you can have a great career in music.

Oooops!  How did that get in there?

Well, you wouldn't want to think it was all work, now would you?  It is a vacation after all.

Other than this stuff, China really didn't give much to write home about.  We made friends, we worked, we had fun, what more can I say?  Oh, yeah.......this stuff.....

"Umm.....hon?  What was that funny sound you made?  Sounded like chimes."

*giggles*  "You'll find out honey.* ;)

What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

JUSTIN AND AURORA'S STORY:  A CHINA TALE

Errrr,  uhhh, hi, I guess.  I'm Justin and this is my lovely wife Aurora.  I guess we're supposed to tell you about our adventures while in Shang Simla.  Well, to be honest, we really didn't do that much.  It all started, once we got there, like this:

Aurora is starting to age up now.  You all know I'm an immortal, but she isn't.  We, as a family, have vowed to make her life as happy and fulfilled as possible.  She is willing to go through this for the sake of our son and grandkids and all the people of the family to come, in hopes that some day.....well, she hopes one day the curse on the gift will be broken and we ALL will be immortal.  If that day comes, we can resurrect those we lost.  I haven't had the heart to tell her that probably will never happen in our world.

We spent most of our time in Shang Simla together, either just the two of us, or with the rest of the family.  I personally had to deliver something for a quest when we first got there, but after that I could just do what I wanted.  I spent a lot of time gathering gems and minerals both for the family collection, and for the others who were on quests.  I also spent a lot of time alone in my studio.  It's a great place for me to just think things over.

Mom wanted me to make a lot of sculptures for the entrances so I spent some time sculpting dragons.  Aurora got this idea in her head that she wanted us all to be in top physical condition, for when she was able to get resurrected.  So she worked really hard on her athletic and martial arts skills.  I dunno.  Maybe it helped because she really is looking a bit younger and stronger.  I mean...she's already 100.

It was one thing for her to be working on her own body, but man she sure tormented the rest of us!

Poor Summer often got the worst of it.  Aurora decided she had to buff up so she would have happy, healthy children.  As far as I know, she isn't even expecting yet!  Poor kid.

Now, don't get me wrong.  Aurora found a lot of time to do other things!  When we all escaped from her clutches, (heheh), you could find her trying to achieve her goal of writing 25 books, or practicing piano.  Man, that girl can make those ivories smoke!

We all had great fun though.  Here's a couple of photos to show you what I mean.

Breath holding contest.  Guess who won?  Aurora did!

Aurora and I having a great game.

A tender moment:

The last night there, we all gathered for our farewell hot tub time.  After that it was home.  So you see, we really had a pretty quiet, easy time there.  Just not much to talk about.

Ok, we did plan more adventures that last night.  But that's for another Thyme to tell.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Dear Diary,  It's me, Summer.  I have such good news!  We had had a great time in Shang Simla.  Jude and I fell even more madly in love than ever.  In the free time we had together, usually in the hot tub, we talked a lot about having a family.  We both had wanted to wait awhile.  We were young, and there was so much we wanted to do together that did not include raising a child.  But Mom.....well Mom was going to leave us very soon now, and her wish, and Dad's was they would be grandparents.  Dad would be around no matter when we had a child, but Mom could very well miss out on that joy.  We decided we'd try for a baby, and if God was willing, we'd be pregnant before we got home.  Sooooooo, guess what?!!!

I was on my way to work, that first day we got home.  They immediately sent me home for a maternity leave!  How did they know when I myself still wasn't sure?  Anyway, I came home wearing really weird clothes, and got hold of Jude.  I was pretty nervous telling him.  Just not sure how he would take the news, but I really had no worries.

He was delighted!  Poor guy really didn't know what was ahead.  Mom had told me it took a lot of work to raise a child and Jude's favorite thing to do was sleep.  Guess he'd better plan on putting that on hold! (giggles)

The very next one I wanted to tell was Mom.  Actually, I almost wanted to tell her first since she so wanted a grandkid, but Jude came first.  (And if you noticed, Dad could hear us as he zipped by on some fatherly mission or other.)  Mom got all teary eyed and wistful.  It had been a rocky road for she and I but I think that just made her more determined to be supportive and caring as I went through this.

She was so happy, and amazed that I had not had even one day of morning sickness!  This would be a blessed child for sure.  Especially so since she was coming right around Christmas time.  Hmmmm, Christmas Thyme!  That's what I would name this baby whether it was a boy or girl!

Gran was absolutely over the moon about this.  (How do you like my oh, so sexy, maternity clothes?)

It seems like time just ran by so fast.  As I said, I never had morning sickness, and the things we did at home were just the standard same old stuff.  Work in the garden, play music, you know....

Justin did all the standard "Daddy" things.

"Feel tummy, listen to tummy, talk to tummy, play peek a boo.  I got it hon.  Hey, this Daddy thing is easy!"

So, it was all going well.  But then one day, after he'd spent some time cooing over my baby bulge, and had once again told me how gorgeous I was....

He totally freaked out!  I can't even repeat all the craziness he was saying.  Honestly.  Men!  Well, I was having none of this stay at home and make silly faces while in hideous pain thing!  Not this Thyme!  I quickly changed clothes and off I went.

He could stay home and freak out all he wanted to .  I was heading for the hospital and was a woman on a mission to get drugs and a baby, in that order!  No shrieking in pain for me!

The ever watchful paparazzi were there to see me off.

And where was Sir Galahad?  Yeah.  Oh, I am SOOOO going to get him for this one!

Bright Path finally caught a clue and at least was there in time for the birth.  So I guess I forgave him in the end.  And here I am with my arms full of Christmas joy, our little daughter, Christmas Thyme.

We took a cab home since neither one of us was really up to driving.  Jude, of course, was oh, so tired after that ordeal. (snicker)

Her wish come true.  Mom gazed fondly on her first, (and only), grandchild.  Me, I was worn out so I quickly took Chrisie to her newly decorated room and took care of her.  Then I could rest.  I knew the family would creep in one by one to admire her, but for me it was time to catch a bit of rest.  The night's were about to become very long!

And so, my darling little Christmas and I say good-night.

YAY nooboo! Congrats on the new generation, Joria.

A friend of mine introduced us to the concept of "voluntold" - which is when someone else volunteers you for something; so instead of volunteering, you are voluntold! (Jude being volunteered to tend the garden.)
You've played too much TS3 when ... your 13 month old's babble sounds like Simlish!

Welcome Christmas! Too bad there is no seasons in Sim3 for snowy Christmas, it would look perfect, but you made the best with what you have! I love the pattern in Aurora's writting room! Beautiful pictures and story, love it Joria, as always.

My sweet little Christmas Thyme!  You have no idea how you have made my life complete.  Now there is a real reason for my sacrifice, and the sacrifice of all the rest of your family.

Perhaps someday you'll read this.  Someday, when you are all grown up and have a grandchild of your own, you will know how much I loved you and how I treasured the time I had with you.

You are Nana's best girl and I love you so much.  You are such a good baby in these pictures.  You hardly ever cried, not that we didn't all take time to make sure you were happy and content.

Sometimes we laughed and played.  I loved doing the tummy kisses because you smelled so sweet and would laugh so happily.

But the best times for me were when I could just snuggle you close and tell you how very much I loved you.  I hope your life is full of joy always.

I may not always be here for you my darling.  But I will always, always love you and as long as I am in your memories and heart, we'll be together in spirit.  Maybe someday I'll see you once again.  For now, it's time for bed for my sleepy angel.

Well our house has surely changed a lot!  Who would have thought I'd be a GREAT-grandma!  Christmas is the sweetest baby in the world, and so well behaved.  I hope this carries on through the terrible toddlers.  My Justin was such an angel during that time and so was Summer.  Being born during Christmas holidays certainly should produce a happy child, shouldn't it?  What a sweet smile she has!

She certainly enjoys her bottle!  This little girl is going to grow up so strong and healthy.  That look of bliss on her face when she feeds is just too adorable.

Awwww.  Sweetie pie.  Give your Grannie a nice burp now.  That's a girl.  Oh my!  You are going to be something strong, aren't you?

Here's a picture of Daddy giving you some loving care.  I hope you know how much we all love you.

THYME FLEW BY

It seems like just yesterday when Christmas was just a tiny, newborn baby.  Her birthday crept up on us so fast and before you knew it, she was toddling around the house getting into everything.  We had a small family celebration for her birthday

and before you knew it, she was off and learning!

Of course, her favorite thing was still her noms.

Summer is a very good mom.  It's a shame she will limit herself to this one child.  Maybe it's for the best as she can devote all her time to teaching Chrisie to do what she needs to do.

That's when it got weird.  Chrisie learned to talk very rapidly. We knew the rest of her skills would not be far behind.  One day she had just woken up when her great-grandfather decided to make his first appearance.  That's RIGHT!  Jon Lessen Thyme showed up in his ghostly form to greet her!

I'm not really sure what she thought of this, but Jon seems happy enough to be taking care of her.  He always was a very good father.  I think she started to cry though because Summer came rushing in and was stunned to see this ghost person in her daughter's room.

I guess she must have recognized him though because pretty soon she was just chatting up a storm.

That was about the time I showed up.  Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw who was there!  My love, my own true, forever love!  I thought I'd never see him again in any form and here he was.  Only, he didn't recognize me.

Meanwhile, Chrissy was in desperate need of the potty and the only one near by, besides Summer, Jon and I, was Aurora.  She was more than happy to take care of her beloved granddaughter.  Honestly, I have never seen her happier! I, of course, wasted no time at all and got right down to getting reacquainted with Jon!

The fact he was a hopeless romantic didn't hurt in the least!  So a little flattery, and a bit of flirting.....

GOTCHA!

I think he was starting to remember.  It had been such a long time.....

I couldn't help asking myself.....where was all this going?  What could you possibly do with a ghost?  Would this be a real relationship or just my desperate wishing to spend a life time with him in any form?  Things progressed......

We took some time talking about things that went before.  I don't think he remembered but he was definitely attracted to me and I could see, as I held his hands, he wanted more.   So did I.  I know, I know!  It's creepy, isn't it?  But I'd never stopped loving him or grieving for him.  I just didn't always let it show.  I missed him so much and this was my last chance, at least for now, to have even just a part of him.  I couldn't resist.......

Sigh.  Well, there you have it.  Here I am going steady, at my age!, with a ghost.  I have no idea what my family is going to think about all this but I guess time and Thyme will tell.  Meanwhile,  I'm not entirely sure I want a ghost sharing my bed all uninvited!

I guess we'll all have to wait and see what develops.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

Aw! Maybe it's weird but I have always enjoyed rekindling my Sims' romances with their lost loves. I think it's sweet. Great updates!
