Sim unable to complete books, is reset when finished
« on: March 25, 2014, 10:57:36 AM »
Hi, I have a sim who I'd like to be an author.  However, when he completes writing a book, I get the message that the book is complete and what it's status is and it's value in royalties.  As soon as this message comes up, the sim is reset and the book is not considered done.  So far I've tried 6 times and have only received one book.  The writing skill is mastered and he has the acclaimed author reward.  I have done writing books before and there's a lot of money to be made.  Does anyone know why this is happening.

Have you tried a different desk and computer? Maybe your Sim is sitting at an odd desk that's glitching.
Also, did you try resetting the Sim? Maybe Evict him and move him back in? Try saving his family to the bin and try in a new neighborhood? If it still glitches in the new neighborhood I would be inclined to think that your Sim is the glitch.

This probably would do better in the Misc. Help board, you would likely get some more ideas there.

Thanks for responding.  I've done all of the above.  Everything, even the sim is fairly new.  He has lived in a couple towns though.  I've used 2 computer and desks.  He has 3 in his home.  I'll give the 3rd one a try.

Can I move this message to the help board or do I just start the thread again there.

Thanks Pam.  Thanks LivvieLove for your help.  I replaced all of his computers and tried another book.  I was able to complete it.  I have to go out now, but I will check when I get home to see if he actually gets the book.  Maybe even though he has multiple computers, the game sees them as just one, so if one is glitched, they all are.  All other functions were working fine.  He uses them a lot.  If I'm unable to get more books, I'll seek further assistance.  I'm hoping this worked.

I'm really glad to hear it! My fingers are crossed for you that all works out! :)
