Selling items?
« on: March 23, 2014, 12:02:29 AM »
I have a sim who is gardening, beekeeping, and making elixirs. How do I sell her produce, honey/beeswax and elixirs in her inventory for simoleons?

Also, are there other things you can do with the beeswax? Thanks!

The to get the most money for that stuff is to consign it through the elixir shop. You get a nice mark up that way more than covers the fees. The more stuff you sell the better your reputation gets and the consigning fees drop.

You can also click and drag the items to the Simoleon box in the inventory tab.  You'll get less money this way, but it's quicker.

As for your question about beeswax, it's used in some elixir recipes.

The higher quality, naturally, gets a better price also.  So, if you are getting a good harvest of quality products, you will make even more money.   I hate to garden, so I do a "cheat" and have a garden that I saved that has perfect plants.  I take what I want for my sim family to use in cooking, eating and alchemy making and sell the leftover to the consignment shop.
Fruits/veggies are used in making elixirs also, so they sell good at the consignment store, I think you can sell anything there; books paintings, gems, gem dust, artifacts, I think you can sell it all there.  I need to check that out, selling artifacts, books, paintings, and other items.

There are several different types of gardens in the swap shop that can be downloaded into a game.  Place them on a community lot and you don't have to do the weeding, watering and no dead plants to deal with.

A new community garden is just what my town needs! Great idea Janna!!

And, thanks for the heads up on the beeswax, Trip!

I took items to the consignment store. When/How will I know when they have sold?

You'll get a notification at 5PM when they're sold and how much you got.

Ugh, so nothing has sold yet :(

How long should I leave the sprinklers on in my garden. I want to upgrade to auto, but I don't have a sim with a handy level high enough yet. :(

Just until the plants green up. It doesn't take very long. On auto they run from 4-7am. Follow that if you feel safer.

Fortunately, they can't drown from overwatering, so I just left my sprinklers on all the time.  Had to build a fence and lock the gate to keep  my sims out of the garden though.  They wanted to play in the sprinklers all the time.

I'm going from memory, which isn't that great, but I think some plants need more water than others.   They can die without the water, but can't die from too much water.  I think the grapes, watermelon and one or more needed to have more water and so would wilt faster than the ones such as the bell peppers, onions and others.

I don't remember how often you needed to water the garden.  Every day, twice a day?  I do remember that they needed to be watered often and it was too frustrating for me to remember to water, weed, fertilize the plants and have time for my sims to have fun.
