Couple Not Married After Death
« on: March 22, 2014, 02:32:55 PM »
so here is what happened my one of my sims died of electrocution while fixing his hot tub. I have showtime and his wife had enough life points for the genie. so I revived him using the genie and now it says him and his wife and not married but engaged, I have tried to get them to be able to get married again but when they get up to extremely irresistible there is now marriage option.

so what is causing it and how can I fix it?

This is a very annoying thing that often happens when one partner dies. Spouses go back to fiancés, boyfriends/girlfriends to romantic interests, etc., so what happened to your couple would also be a direct result of the death. As for them not being able to remarry, you could try breaking them up by using several 'mean' interactions, then working your way back up again. I don't really know why they can't just get married again, but I have heard it is very common...
Good luck!

Hmm. Yeah, it is a bug after all... what might help is to go into Edit Town, evict them and put them back in their house, but that is not guaranteed... I've had it 'reset' some of my glitched sims, not all the time, though.
Another solution I find quite neat, but which requires some patience, is to raise one of your sims' Social Networking skill and set their relationship to 'partner'; you should be able to propose after that :)

It's a very common bug that happens to a Sim who has died/been dead.
When it comes to marriage, if you have University, World Adventures or Into the Future, I would recommend traveling and trying it there. I can only verify that it works in World Adventure worlds, but University should be similar, but I'm curious to see if Into the Future would work as well.

Traveling should allow them to get married. :) If it doesn't then I'm not sure what to do (asides moving them to a brand new town in a fresh save).

Have you ever noticed that when a spouse dies the widow(er) wishes to have a bachelor(ette) party. It's the same thing even when they're not resurrected.

I've had that happen recently, now that you mention it! The wife rolled the wish right after seeing Grimmy claim the husband. So I guess she is back to 'engaged' status with him. Ah well.
