It was a lovely summer day. The sun was high in the sky. The world was waking up from a night out on the town. Life was wonderful for young Enero Desan, because today was the day he became a true adult. No more curfew, no more school work, and no more limitations on his interactions. It was wonderful.
E woke up late and ran down the stairs of his family's luxurious home on the outskirts of Bridgeport. There was a cake sitting on the counter with his name written all over it.
"Happy birthday son." His mother greeted. "Hurry up and blow out the candles."
E didn't take a moment to contemplate his mother's eagerness. His own exceeded hers. He rushed up to the counter and leaned over the cake. He paused for a moment to think of his wish. He had access to all the simoleons he could ever want. His house was big and grand. He never had to work a day in his life. He had the prettiest girlfriend a guy could ever want. What did a guy like him need wishes for? Then he knew.
I wish I could live this life forever! He thought to himself as he leaned over the cake and blew out the candles.
Things escalated from there. Sparkles surrounded him and he grinned excitedly. He suddenly felt the need to spin around. When he did he looked down and he was bigger and taller. His wardrobe magically changed (and not for the better), but he always blamed that on his magic overflowing on his birthday.
His hands moved to his hips and he grinned proudly. "So this is what freedom feels like?" He asked with a smile.
"About that freedom..." His father spoke up, clearing his throat.
"Your father and I have talking. And we feel it's best if you..."
"What is it, mom?" Enero asked with a confused look on his face.
"Well we think its best if you got your own place." His father finished.
E grinned widely. His own place! He could throw parties every day, invite his girlfriend over, and leave all the mess for his maid to clean up. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. Where am I moving to?"
"Out." His father said rather abruptly.
"I know. Where am I going? Oh please tell me you bought me the penthouse across from the Prosper Room!" Enero asked eagerly.
"There is no penthouse for you. There aren't any simoleons for you. There isn't even any cake for you." His father said seriously, pushing the cake away from him.
"But why?" Enero was beyond confused now. He didn't understand what was happening. "Mom?" He asked turning hopefully to his mother.
"E, this is beyond us. You're going somewhere we have no control over. Its just how its supposed to be. Besides this now gives your father and I the chance to retire and move out to Isla Paradiso. We've always wanted to own our own hotel chain." She explained a little more gently.
But the damage was done. "You don't want me." He said, wanting to phrase it like a question, but he knew better.
"Its not like that. This is something you must do. In time you well know the truth of it all."
With that, E found himself standing outside the gates of his family home. Despite knowing the code it still wouldn't open, it kept ringing the doorbell and asking for entrance, which was denied each time.
"But Mom! Dad!"
With that he was left with the only other option. He sought out Aimee, his one and only. She lived with her aunt in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. She'd surely help him out.
"Why don't you stay with us for a while? It'll be like a permanent sleepover! I'm sure Aunt Kat won't mind. Make yourself at home." Aimee smiled at him.
E was already feeling a little better. He knew he could trust Aimee. She had always been there for him. Well always as in since he knocked over the punch bowl at prom. That's when she first noticed him and by the end of the night they were going steady. They spend the rest of their school year skipping class, egging houses, and throwing parties when his parents were out of time. And he knew it was meant to be.
In the other room he heard Aimee speaking with her aunt. Her voice raised momentarily before lowering so E couldn't listen in. Not that he'd do that anyways...
It was a while before Aimee emerged from her aunt's room. She looked bummed and upset. E tried to cheer her up with some bad jokes, but it didn't work. So instead he had a crazy idea and decided to take her out on the town.
The Banzai Lounge wasn't a hot spot tonight, but it wasn't dead either. So it was perfect for what E had planned. They danced for a little bit and enjoyed a few drinks. On the house, of course, the perks of being famous.
"You know, I've never met anyone who made me feel like you do. Call it crazy, call it love or whatever you want to call it. But I want you. I want to be with you forever and ever." Enero explained as he lowered himself down onto one knee. "You the one that I want. O, o, oo, honey..."
"Look E. You're great and all. And we had fun in high school. But isn't this a little too fast. Don't you have plans? Wishes, Lifetime Goals? You didn't even want to propose, did you?"
"Well it never popped up, but that doesn't mean I love you." E replied a little disappointed.
"Our relationship isn't even quite there. I don't need commitment issues to say no. You are being extremely awkward."
"Last call! The bar is closing!" The mixologist announced. Though he lied, even E wanted to grab another drink, the bouncers were already pushing him out the door.
"We can still work things out Aimee. In a few hours we can pretend this never happened and we can move on with our lives. We can start a fresh. I'll get a job. Whatever you need me to do."
Aimee mulled the idea around for a moment before the answer popped into her head. "No Enero, We can't." She answered. "It's over. Go find someone else to bother. I don't need you. I never needed you in my life. You were just arm candy for the hallways. Now in the real world, I need a real man to take care of me. Perhaps that Beau. He's a nice strong vampire. He'd certainly take good care of me."
"Aimee, you can't be serious. I need y-"
"No E. Get out of my sight. And if I ever see you again, I'll...I'll..." She couldn't even finished her sentence. She just turned away, tears obviously forming in her eyes.
E was defeated. He didn't know what to do, so he turned and sulked away, his heart heavy and broken. First his parents, now Aimee. What was going on?
As he walked down the the dark streets of downtown. A voice reached out to him from the beyond. He was confused at first, but he soon realized it must be a sign from the beyond the glass.
There's a better ending to your story, Enero. And your wish will come true."It's already fallen to pieces. How could it possibly come true? I'm broke, single, and homeless. I've reached the lowest of the low."
Not exactly. You wished this life would never end."So. My life is ruined now."
You're still alive aren't you?"Yeah, but what's the point now?"
I can give you everything you once had and more. Future generations will aspire to be just like you. And you will have life. Forever."What? Would I be...a god?"
No, Enero. You would be. Immortal."Immortal? But how?"
Let me show you how, next stop...The words faded before he ever learned his destination

The world blacked out and a grey bar suddenly appeared. Nothing happened at first. Then it suddenly turned green. Gradually the bar got greener and greener until suddenly...
The blackness was greeted by the sun. And Young Enero Desan found himself stumbling through a medieval world, wondering what just happened.
Okay, well stumbling might not be the right word…
"Are you crazy? What am I supposed to do? The entire world is covered in dirt and stone? How is a party animal like me supposed to survive in the wild like this. There aren't even any dance clubs or flashy lights!"
Calm down. I've got you covered. Cha-ching, cha-ching.
"How'd you do that?"
I've got my ways. Until then, let's explore. "Oh hey! What's this?"
I forgot to mention. Welcome to Dragon Valley."Sweet."
