How to Place Railings Around Staircase Holes?

How do I place railings around the staircase holes? This doesn't look safe nor good:

I find that fences work a treat for them. Select whatever fencing style you like, and run it around the sides of the gap.

Yes, you can usually find a fence that either matches or coordinates well with your railings.

As well as fences, you can also use half walls to block the staircase holes as sometimes I find them to blend in better. You can find them in Build Mode -> Walls -> there should be a tab with this shorter wall looking thing and there should be a collection of half walls available for use. You can easily match these walls with the wallpaper because it acts the same as a normal wall.
