GRRR!! I'm annoyed! For some reason, I am now getting this error again, even though I am up-to-date on all the patches! This just happened to me again just now. What is going on? Anyone else have this happen?
I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him George!!

I alway's have saving problems from the beginning. Error 16 or so. Strange that I can't remember the correct name now, because for some reason I don't get them much more often anymore (which is a good thing, I think). When my laptop is saving the game and it take an awfull long time it is almost 9 out of 10 that I am getting that message again. Patch, or no patch. The only thing I can do is getting back to life mode, panning the camera somewhere and try saving it again. That's all. It is anoying indeed. But I am just happy that I am capable of saving though.

I read somewhere that deleting the caches helps with making save time shorter but I don't really know what it means.  Can anyone help?  Will it have any unintended consequences?

thanks

The caches are files on your computer that "stores" basic information of what you're doing in your game, i.e. what objects you've placed out, the houses you've built etc. to enable the game to "find" those objects quicker. Usually, the caches may get a little overloaded after a while. The world cache, the temporary storage of data concerning your neighbourhood, is closely associated with save error 12, but it is reset each time you start up the game from the desktop. Therefore, it will be easier to save if you go out and in to the game every 2 hours or something.

I've also heard about a objects, or something similar, cache that isn't reset by itself. Normally, it doesn't pose so much of a problem, but lag and several bugs have apparently been linked to that one, which should get fixed by deleting the cache files. I've never done that, so I don't know the position of them, but unless they're some really odd cache files, it wouldn't ruin the game if you delete them. If anything, make it go slightly slower if they are to be re-created, but don't quote me on that. I don't know how those caches function.

In any case, this is the general idea about caches.

I keep a lot of save files, so by moving all but the most recent ones to a "save copy" folder, I've completely eliminated my save errors. Btw, I always "save as" and change the save name (ie. Twinbrook Fixit 15 ---> Twinbrook Fixit 16).

I do the same thing with the "Save as", that I have several different save files for one game that I rotate, for example Twinbrook, Twinbrook 2, Twinbrook 3, and so on, and when I get to the sixth file, I start from the beginning again. I've gotten the error 16 only once, and that was one of the few times I used just "Save" and not "Save as".

A reason for that could be the .bad file that appears after a save file hasn't been able to save completely. For some reason, this can make it harder to save another time for some people, so it's just to erase that file if it appears in the save folder.

Welcome to the forum, Stevie.  I'm not sure what this question has to do with the thread you posted in.  Were you trying to start a new thread?  You might also do a search for that topic.  I know it has been discussed elsewhere but don't have a particular thread to refer you to just now.

Also, Stevie, I  had to edit your post to change i to I and fix other grammatical errors.  Posting in proper English is not only a courtesy to other people reading your post, it is also part of the forum rules which you agreed to when you signed up.  Please be more careful in future.  There is a link to the forum rules in my signature if you need a reminder.

Hi Stevie.

Your post is completely off topic for this thread.  Please start a new topic for your problem.  Also, as Schipperke mentioned, please use proper English when posting.  Even after being edited, your post is a little difficult to understand because of the lack of punctuation.

No, the patch you are looking for should be found when you open up your launcher and click on the bit that says 'updates'. It is patch 1.29. :)

What I do to ensure no corruption, each time I save I save twice, and then do a Save As, It is long but definitely worth it!

Good point. I do something similar: saving under two different names. One name the same as the other, just with ending on BackUp.
