Console Game Question
« on: March 14, 2014, 01:09:06 AM »
We just got a PS3 console , (used to always play in PC), am planning to buy a Sims game, I would like to know if it is the same with consoles for the expansions, do you need to have the base game to have the EPs installed OR are the EPs, like University, for example, stand alone console games (no need of base game)? Thanks for your reply.

Hi athena. I'm moving this to he Console board. :)

All of the Sims 3 Console games are stand-alone games. If you, say, get Pets for console, it operates independently of the base TS3 for console, as opposed to the expansion pack system that the PC games use.

I've played the earlier sims games on PC, like when The Sims first came out in the 90's and have had most of the expansion packs up until making magic.

On console, each game isn't considered an expansion pack, that's a PC term.  As mentioned, each game is a stand alone game.  The games are also a toned down version of the PC version so you get less stuff and can do less, but they can still be fun in their own way.  They also don't make as many console versions as they do for PC, like the expansion packs for PC.  I believe for console you have The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Slms 3 Pets, and earlier you have I think it's called Urbs: The Sims In The City (or something like that), which I read was horrible.
