Hi MrsFlynn yes I have checked my specs and I also did the system requirement detection run on the games and that was all great. The main info is
Toshiba Satellite C55D-A-149
MEMORY:6144MB RAM
CARD NAME AMD RADEON HD 8210
WINDOWS 8.1
And thanks for any help.
Hi, onthefence.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the laptop you bought won't play Sims 3 + everything. We have a a laptop very similar to it (Acer Aspire One 722 with 8 GB), and it runs Base + World Adventures + High-End Loft Stuff. Anything we try to install after that crashes during the installation. While your Toshiba can take up to 16 GB memory, I don't know how much that will help as the system has a limited processor and a limited graphics card, much like our Aspire. It is not meant for gaming, but for light processing and web surfing - what used to be called a netbook, but is now called an entry level Ultrabook.
It is also under-specs for the base game, as is our Aspire. It has a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor, while the base game's minimum is a 1.8 GHz dual-core or 2.4 GHz single-core processor. The graphics card is good, but has no dedicated memory. Sims 3 base game wants 128 MB dedicated video memory at the very least.More information and a system test can be found at
System Requirements Lab.
Again, that doesn't mean you can't play The Sims 3 at all, but you will limited on the expansions and stuff packs you can run with it. Your experience with the Toshiba is very similar to the experience we have with our Aspires.
Hope this helps, and happy Simming!
