Disappointed In The Sims 3 For Console
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:32:14 PM »
So, after having played Pets for PS3 for a long time I decided I wanted to play without Pets so I asked for The Sims 3 for Christmas.  After waiting for Christmas to arrive to finally get my game I was so excited to play it.  I had to make myself realize that I would be going backwards as far as release.   I understood this.  I first saw the map and was wowed.  But, most of it is the same stuff like 5 places to fish, 5 restaurants, etc.  No goth manor which sort of disappointed me, because every sim game I've played had a goth manor.  I also like sim cemeteries and I guess I should be happy they have a least one but I would have liked another one to visit as well.  I liked how you had to do challenges to open some things up but a lot of the household objects you had in Pets you had to unlock in The Sims 3.  I did like how you could unlock certain outfits like cheerleader, pizza delivery guy, maid, etc.  Also, Pets did have karma powers and you did have to unlock them by going through tiers and as you complete each tier you got to unlock more karma powers.  In The Sims 3 you had to do extra stuff to unlock those and some of the unlocking techniques I found ridiculous.  For example, to get the giant jackpot karma power you have to have household funs of 35,000 simoleons.  OK, so in my opinion if you have that many simoleons you don't need that karma power.  I used to use it in Pets to give me a little money to finish building a house or to add more furniture or something like that.  I know there are cheats you can use to give you money and stuff but I didn't want to resort to cheats in this game.

So, maybe I just expected too much or I'm whining or maybe both.  But, I feel very disappointed in The Sims 3 for console.  I feel like I actually like Pets better. I got annoyed with dogs digging in your yard.  I had to almost always put a fence completely around my yard so nobody but the people who actually live in the house can go in the yard.

Anyone else feel as I do?

Keep in mind that the karma powers stay open even when you start a new family. It could be helpful then. Pets does have a lot more to do, though.

The sims for console is overall disappointing. To the point where I sold it just got the PC version. I understand sometimes that's not an option. I was mostly disappointed that you could move family members out and them live in your town and you see them from time to time. They would just disappear when you move out. And, I could never get my gravestones to stick around. They would always be in the inventory and then when the ghost would return to the netherworld the stones would disappear along with the memory of that sim! And, it is strange there is no Goth Manor in the game, I never noticed that until reading here!

Here's my tutorial for keeping the tombstone

YES!! I figured out how to keep the tombstone

Things needed:
Sims 3 pets console
Ghost zapper from inventing
dead sim

For a sim in your household wait for the death sequence to happen then use a ghost zapper on them
For a sim not in your household use the ghost zapper on them when they've been turned into a ghost by grim

Yippee!!

As someone who formerly had the Wii version of the Sims 3, I can definitely back this up too. Options were limited on numerous things, from CAS to rabbitholes to... well, just about everything. The graphics were pretty awful too, though that may have been partially the console being the Wii. I eventually cabed in and traded the game for something better to play because overall ot was incredibly lackluster, and definitely unlike the lovely PC version.
