Uh, so I'm a long time silent reader of your story and I just wanted to assure you that not only is your building amazing, you've also inspired me to try (yet again) for a lifestate's dynasty.
I really love your story telling and Marci is a hoot. :) I hope she has her witch-baby soon!

It's really nice to hear that I have inspired you, because I haven't been doing it very long myself!  Thank you for the compliments - I love building the houses, it's a huge part of the game for me!  I don't know what I am going to do with future generations!  I won't have building to look forward to because it's pretty much all done now!  I love Marci, but her voice has fallen to the wayside with all the accomplishments and events popping up lately.  Thanks!

It's a girl!
Rory was born a sailor and a daredevil.  Her favorite color is purple!
She is also another werewolf!  Gah!

Rob is taken to his cake because his crib is now occupied.  I've found that this counter is a much better place for cake from now on, as I can get better pictures!

One last shot of my adorable boy!  Also of Rubisel's back!  You will find that I take a TON of pics of the birthdays.  I want to see their faces for the last time!

There he goes!

Bam!  Mr Handsome has arrived!  I told you my kids came out looking just like their cousin I posted a few days ago.

Rob is now a mooch.
Okay, so his mouth is a little odd and smallish but otherwise I think he's adorable!  AND - in front of my very eyes - he picked up his plate and cleaned up after himself.  A FIRST in this family.

Marci heads upstairs to spend a little time with her daughter.

And then Rory, too, has a birthday.

Hysterically, she has inherited her mother's knack for making funny faces!

Interestingly, she has these brilliant blue eyes and I have no idea where they came from.  Both Marci and Rubisel have very dark eyes, and Rob has them as well.

And so Marci and Rubisel try yet again.

And here I spam you with more pictures of the kids.  There really isn't much story to it, they just live and grow while we wait for baby number 3.  They are too cute to just skimp over their lives though, so I do want to at least show off the pics!  Also, I thought I took pics of the kid's bedroom, but I guess I forgot.  So the background of these is all I have to show of it!

Rob got honor roll in school pretty easily.  I didn't even try.  I guess that is because of his genius trait.
Also, I don't know why he didn't turn into a werewolf right away during the full moon.  But he finally did eventually!  He is NOT a good looking werewolf though, so I just chose this picture instead.

For my last picture spot, I will show off the house again.  I added a little landscaping and I'm sure you got to see a bit of the playground in the sandbox pictures above.  Rubisel also got a police car from work.

Also, fair warning, my next few posts will probably be a lot like this - LOTS more pictures of the kids!

Aw the kids are so sweet! I adore that picture of Marci and Rory at the cake! They made matching faces and it was too cute for words! Have you thought about aiming for multiple children? Not that it matters really, singles probably work just fine, I just thought that if you had multiples you could up your chance for a witch in one pregnancy swing.
I've tried and tried with lifestate's dynasties, but it seems I get stuck or lose interest. I was at generation 4-5 in one of my files I still have, and you've made me pick it back up because I was on my werewolf generation at the time, but those collecting challenges were so hard, and I couldn't seem to figure out the best way to do that.
Also, I'd like to point out that I adore your love of spares. I never taught those kids how to walk/talk/potty, I went straight to focusing on the heir (as I usually had multiples) and just left them alone and aged them up as fast as I could.
By the way, I know I mentioned how I loved your buildings, but Hoberts Hidaway was absolutely gorgeous. I've never been able to make that place look that good and function. You are an architectural genius.

Question - is it hard to play in Isla Paradiso? The town usually gives me troubles, so I was wondering how you were managing in the town.

Haha, ty.  I have considered multiples, although I couldn't tell you why I didn't go for it.  I just decided not to for some reason.  I know one big thing is I don't have a ton of space in the nursery and don't want to clutter it up more with more than 1 crib.  I also didn't really want to deal with moving out a ton of spares by always having more than 1 kid.  Although in this generation it probably backfired.  If I had multiples I probably would have had my heir within the first 2 kids.  I might go for it in a later generation though.  Time is so sparse with trying to keep everyone in good moods and still meet requirements.  I guess I just didn't want to deal with more than one infant/toddler at a time when I have bigger fish to fry.  I'm getting pretty good at staying on top of their needs though so maybe a future generation I will shoot for multiples.  I think my love for the spares is largely because I don't have multiples!  haha.  I bet you would have the time to train your toddler spares too if you only had one.

I'm surprised you lose interest!  I think Life States sounds like the most fun dynasty out of all of them.  I like the idea of having so many different people, yet all related.  Yes, the collecting challenges are awful.  I'm not going to lie, it took me for EVER.  I mean probably a good 24 real life hours.  And I even bought Marci collection helper.  It was so old and boring.  Just going around and picking up everything.  I was like 8/10 on all 3 bug collectors and seemed unable to finish any of them!  And then needs on top of it!  Every time I had to wait for respawns I sent her home to use the bathroom and eat, shower or nap.  But perseverance won and I finally got the last beetles.  The gem and metal ones I finished pretty easily.  I am so glad that is over and I can focus on what I hope are easier skills for the rest of the generations.

Did you post your life states anywhere?  I'd read it.

And thanks for the compliments - although it is now Conroy Shores!  haha.  I really wish there was more space.  The guests are so demanding with what they want.  I had a lot of fun building it.  The only idea I had in my head for sure was that I wanted to put people out over the water as much as possible.  How cool would it be to swim in a pool over the ocean?  Well, that couldn't happen because of building restrictions.  Next best thing?  Dining over the water.  The guests still complain though, but it's a 5 start resort now.

ETA:  Forgot to answer the question!  It's not hard.  It has the annoying issue that I have seen many report of constantly stopping for a few seconds at a time, every 10 seconds!!!  But usually a restart fixes that for me.  I actually think this dynasty would have been much harder if I wasn't able to get that resort for free.  It really helped financially in the early days.  Especially since, as a writer, Marci had no income at all until she finished that first book.  Scout and the resort were the only things that allowed her to eat and pay her meager bills.

I think the environment and lighting make lovely screenshots.

True story on having multiples. They really don't motivate you into training them when you have a heir in the midst. I completely understand, the first generation is always the hardest. Getting to a point where the money is just flowing in and you have the best of everything and enough lifetime happiness points to suddenly not even have needs is incredibly challenging - but very fun.

I only lose interest temporarily until I find something that reminds me how fun it was. I sometimes need breaks when playing challenges, not to mention I always seem to run into game-breaking bugs almost immediately. Painful really. Unfortunately, my werewolf is at... maybe 6/10 beetles and butterflies, and the gem collector is out because I used Martial Arts to find gems for my second generations mausoleum pieces. Bummer. I'm also using fishing with him, so that helps. I already have the metals, I just need the beetles/butterflies and mushrooms one to pull through.
Anyways, you did get me started: Link Magic on a non-story speed run overview of mine. Nothing too special, just my tally of what I achieved.
Sorry! Conroy Shores! I had a feeling the name had been changed along the lines, I always know it as Hobert's Hidaway (or something along those lines). It is very cramped there, and it's hard because you can't place things on slanted ground (which is - like - all of it). The guests will always complain. I've made a resort on a 64/64 flat lot with everything and they still complain. You simply can't win. "Not Decorated Enough." "Lines too long." "Hot tubs too full." I totally feel you.

It really does, it tempted me to start something there but I always have trouble running Isla Paradiso, I was just curious to see if you were having troubles too, but you seem to have a really good shot with it! Fingers are crossed for you that it remains that way - though you likely have a powerful computer or something (mine is supposedly powerful, but my graphics card doesn't agree with the Sims  ::)

Just a cute pic of Rory watching TV!

One day Marci was just looking out the window when suddenly...

Rubisel came home and freaked out!

As did the maid!

But Rob was cool with it.  He witnessed the last kid.
Rob:  MOM.  That's where Scout EATS.
Marci:  hooo... quiet son... haaah... once upon a time, the -ow!- toilet was in this spot.

Another girl!

Her name is Riley.
And she is the heir!  A witch at last.
She was born a virtuoso!  That takes care of the next set of skills.  She was also born evil, oh joy!

And so with much sadness on Marci's part, little Rory became a child!
Marci:  They grow up so fast.

They do, but Rob seems excited to have a playmate other than imaginary friend, Hesper, who never came to life!
(by the way, neither of the girls even got an IF toy)

Shazam!  And there she was.
Marci: Beautiful!

Rory is now excitable.  Doesn't she look it.

Meanwhile, heir Riley lays in her crib and smiles.  Perhaps she is already thinking of evil things to come.

She gets lots of special attention.

More kid pic spam while we wait for Riley to grow!  Both parents are working hard to become her best friend.

Marci:  Rawwwrrrr... it has been so long since I was able to let loose.

Ohh, so many things to comment on... I LOVE the house, your styling is awesome.  ;D  I'm going to give my sims house a make-over tomorrow as you have really inspired me to try some new things.
The storyline is moving along well now that you've finally got your heir. Seeing those little nooboos doing their werewolf roar is soo cute!
It was really neat to see Hobarts/Conroys Shores as I have often wondered what other people do to improve it.
I totally enjoy your story telling style, it is very funny and personal at the same time.
Basically I just really love your story.  8)

Congrats on your witch-y heir! Riley is evil? That's going to be fun (good luck dealing with all those ice-blasts later on), I got lucky, my witch wasn't evil, just a whole lot of neutral traits (or traits leading to skills that have already been claimed!).
Her mother is evil though, and being the witch that brought her in I always have broken plumbing and scorched Sims. You might want to learn how to sell the wand they randomly get in their inventory, and remember - they will eventually get another one! Just a word of warning.
Either that or lock her away from plumbing. If you have Into the Future the sonic shower can't be ice-blasted and broken, so if you have steel bladder that may very well help you not have to fight with plumbing. Either way, I salute you and wish you the best of luck!

I'm really happy it inspired you.  I love building the houses, sometimes more than playing the actual sims.  The resort was fun too, I just tried to make it look like someplace I would like to be.  Do you have any stories or anything up where I can see yours?  I agree, the toddler werewolves are so adorable.  I'm glad you like my story telling too.  I think I probably overdo it on the screenshots but there are just SO MANY and its so hard to choose.  So much stuff happens in a sim's life!  LOL.  I definitely have more screenshots than story.  But I know I tend to prefer the pics to just reading text, personally.

Yeah, she is evil.  So far it has been pretty amusing, watching her laugh at people.  I have had people die right in front of her and she is thrilled about it.  I haven't seen her destroy any plumbing just yet, but I have kept her pretty busy with her guitar.  I haven't seen her do a whole lot of magic in general yet.  Although I did have an all-in-one bathroom break on the first floor that flooded almost the entire entry hallway.  I have never seen so much flooding from one appliance before, maybe that was her.  I loose track of her sometimes if I am focused on a different character.  She got off work one day and by the time I caught up with her once she got home, she was scorched.  I didn't know what happened but she was probably practicing magic when I wasn't looking.

Happy birthday, Riley!
Her favorite color is lilac.

Aged up naked, that's my heir.

She refused to turn her head, so this is the best picture I could get of her face.  I really dislike this hair on toddler girls.  I don't know why.  I just hardly ever see toddlers with hair so thick and long and it just doesn't appeal to me I guess.  But I hate the other hair for girls more, I can't stand the one with those ugly bangs.  So I will let her keep this.  I'd use the one with the bow that Rory had but I didn't want to overuse it.  I think next time I will just use it anyway though, it's the only hair I like.

Marci wastes no time working on her necessary skills.

Of course, a little play time is necessary too.

Rob has a wish to have a sleepover, so he calls up the only two classmates he knows.  They are both girls.

Here they come!

A little pajama tag is in order.

And also a little pillow fighting (I love this pic haha).

And Riley does work.  It's not very fun being the heir, is it?

Too fun!

concerned mother:  I'm not going to have any problems with your son turning my child into a werewolf, am I?

Uh oh.

Marci:  My son will eat your child for dinner.

After this little incident, she kicked Rob out of his sleeping bag and laid down to keep watch.
I dunno, she just came over with the other two girls.  Rob didn't invite her, so I just assumed she was a parent.  Plus I thought she looked kind of pregnant.  Turns out she's a teenager, as she became friends with Rob once he aged up.  But at the time when I took these screenshots, I had no clue.  I still don't know why she even showed up.

On to the xylophone...

So I decided to have a little fun with the kids while Riley works on her skills.  I bought them one of these deals:

More hanging out with Riley:

She just learned to talk!

And with that, she has completed all necessary requirements for aging up.
Marci:  Can't somebody do something about that dishwasher?
Not until we have a handy heir, Marci.

Yeah, she looks just like her brother.  She is now a slob.

She's a cutie, I always find it so amazing how we can get such good rolls for some Sims and such bad trait rolls for others. It doesn't seem to matter how well you treat them or how well they were raised, you can just roll some of the crappiest traits.
Ah well, I do suppose it gives them character. Also I'm glad to see she's not that interested in your plumbing! Good news all around then!

Great update. I haven't attempted any forum dynasty at all. I just play for fun, if you know what I mean  :P I haven't even taken any screen shots of the houses I've built, and I've built loads. My most recent one is a double story ranch in Apooloosa Plains with the obligatory horse barn etc. I guess I can't be bothered with all the hassle of figuring out how to upload them etc. I start many games, get my main sim to the point where he/she has maxed skills and careers etc then maybe has one nooboo.... then bam! Bored, so I start another game... and so on. I have completed one family to the third generation and it was fun seeing the 'genetics' coming through but got bored again so they now reside in my huge saved file of sim families to be played again one day.  ::)
I think that's why I enjoy reading about other peoples dynasties, 'cos it's something I don't think I'll ever do.  :D

Yeah, I really wish Rob had been the heir with the traits he rolled.  Rory's traits are fairly useless, but at least they aren't bad.  I'm happy for Riley to have gotten virtuoso though, as that sets up nicely for the dynasty requirements, at least.  That alone is probably better than Rory's useless traits.  The slob thing though... LOL.  But hey, I have a maid so no harm done.

I've built 3 so far that I am proud of, this being one of them.  I have been playing long enough to have built far more, but I tend to just save my houses and reuse them when I start a new game.  I have a really nice one with a barn in Appaloosa Plains as well!  I agree the genetics are fun, I don't usually play with them myself, I get too attached and turn off aging.  So my kids never grow, my parents never die, and I never really see any further generations.

So Riley is off to the mirror and dresser right away.  I dress her in yellow for the witch color, and a light purple for her favorite color.
Then she heads downstairs to mingle with the family.  She is pretty animated.  Of course she talks about diamonds with Rory.  And I wanted her to meet Rob as a child, because it's his birthday today as well.  He got slightly behind because he spent a day or two as a werewolf.

And so we get our first ever teenager in the house.

Loved this boy, one last shot!

Wow he looks like a man.

Here he is after visiting the dresser and mirror.  Amazing how much younger he looks with a different hairstyle.  And I'm sure the white button up shirt wasn't helping, either, but that is gone now.

At this point the family pretty much eats birthday cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Riley, please don't grow up to have commitment issues...

I let Riley have the rest of the day off.  She has a ton of work to do, but she doesn't have school yet and I have nobody to tutor her.

The youngest child has now outgrown the crib, and I am out of beds, so I have added one last room onto the house.  It's a room for all the heirs.  I don't want to have a massive house where they all have their own room.  They don't care as far as I know, and this game already takes forever to load.  And it makes it feel less like a house and more like a hotel.  So I just did one room with a bunch of bunk beds.  I will color their bedding accordingly as they are born.  So here is what the room more or less looks like (since I took this shot, I deleted one of the bunk beds figuring the 7th heir will keep the queen bed).  This way the spares have a place to sleep too, while they are here.

And here is how it looks from outside now.

Sorry about the quality of those two pics.  As you can probably tell, the full moon is on it's way.
Riley:  Hello!

Riley:  Aaaah!  Moooom!
And that would be her first ever encounter with a zombie.

So then I went to add a little landscaping to the back corner of the house...

And I noticed I hit the build mode button at JUST the right time.  I was just looking around and noticed one of the zombies had been jumping on the trampoline!

So I left build mode to try to get a pic without the grid on (I forgot I could just turn it off).  So when it unpaused this happened too fast for me to get a pic:

Ahahahaaa.. anyway.

I never took the sleeping bag out of Rob's inventory, and he has taken to sleeping in all sorts of strange places.
In the kitchen...

Or the foyer...
Rob has now lost sleeping bag privileges.

Here's a shot of Riley working on homework once she goes to school

She visits her old room and sits in the rocking chair for a while.  She looked pretty peaceful at first, but then I noticed that she was clearly plotting something evil.

I encountered some sort of bug where Scout was stuck at 33 days old for a couple weeks.  But once I noticed she was aging again, it was time:

Oh, I forgot to mention Rob grew up to gain the neurotic trait.  This is going to go very well with his evil little sister.  It appears he has decided to get her before she gets him.

Haha, they're a funny lot. I love neurotic sims! So Riley is going into music? I didn't even dare touch music because of the skill challenges. I mean, I probably could forget the party one and still be fine, but I just didn't want to risk it. I love how your house looks so real, mine is a box. It's a functional box but it's a box all the same. I gave my immortals their own rooms so they wouldn't bother me or each other. (I had one too many snob/evil sims for that - their relationships would all be in the red, they can barely keep up with their spouses moved out, let alone each other). I keep them in locked basements so I don't have to worry about them getting into things they're not supposed to.

Yep, I decided to have her do music and cooking.  The skill challenges, I dunno.  I am working on the tips one right now, she is at about 6k.  So a ways to go yet, but I don't think it will be too bad, seeing as she hasn't been an adult for long.  Master guitarist should be easy, no?  She is at level 9 guitar right now but soon she will be able to learn all the songs available for purchase.  I have no clue what songs are "awarded", I haven't seen anything yet.  Guitar Star I have no idea about, but it's only 10 venues.  I am going to look that one up later, after I get the tips one done.  It's got to be easier than collecting.  And she already has the Menu Maven skill challenge for cooking, so that part isn't looking bad either.

LOL!  Locking them in the basement doesn't sound like much fun.  Hopefully I don't get any more evil sims.  I haven't had a snob yet but you're making me hope to avoid that as well.  So far mine all get along, but then, I only have 4 people in the house.  Marci and Riley, and their spouses.  Everyone works but Marci, so she typically just wanders the house alone all day with Scout.

ETA:  She just got level 10 skill on guitar, and when I checked the skill journal she has completed the Master Guitarist challenge!  So that one was easier than I thought.
