This is an exciting update (and also my last until Monday).
Because Marci's formal wear is such an embarrassment, and also because she really only has the one mermaid friend at this point, and also because I am impatient and there really is no reason to wait, the two decide to wed on the spot now that the proposal is out of the way. I can't imagine having a fancy wedding with a dress and cake and decorations when Marci is broke, unpopular, and poorly dressed.
You know, you can't tell in screenshots because it looks like no time has passed, but I spent a good 5-10 minutes repeating romantic emotes trying to get "ask to move in" to come up. I believe I tried for a while before proposing as well. It never did (I don't know if that is a commitment issue thing or what). I really wanted to save marriage for that 5k wish. I guess another Conroy will get that one.
Rubisel may be disappointed, and so may I be, but it is what it is. So they exchange rings, vows, and a kiss. Scout is their only witness, and she just sleeps through the whole boring ordeal.
It's really too bad it happened on a full moon. Maybe it is appropriate for a werewolf to experience a big event during a full moon, but it makes for low quality pictures. Not a big fan of how everything glows. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't SO bright.
Marci is completely taken by his undressed form (his sleep wear), and he seems surprisingly pleased at being married:
So here is the exciting part. House upgrades!!! It turns out Rubisel owned a house. Marci has to stay on her lot so I was left with no choice but to sell the house. He also had a car and a jet ski. So Rubisel came to us with a decent amount of money, about 35k simoleons. I hope it is within the rules to keep all of that. It allowed me to really do a LOT of work on the house, although it is mostly just walls, windows and flooring - I saved some of the money to put into the resort. Windows are expensive, and the only reason I could afford these was probably because I already had all the downstairs walls up prior to Rubisel joining the family.
I think a large chunk of this update is going to be taken up with screenshots of the house, but its a big deal. There will be 7 generations here after all, and their lives will largely revolve around this place.
Note: I'm sorry about the quality of these pics. They're a little dark because we can't afford lights yet.
Front
and back
This isn't a very good pic of the downstairs layout. It's also missing a door, but I will show you that shortly:
And here is the upstairs. At last, an actual bedroom. Two in fact, although more will be added in the future.
A shot of the future kitchen - we can only afford this small bit of counter space so far. But at least they have places to eat now rather than the toilet and bathtub.
Please note Rubisel still excited about being married. He seems to be shaping up to be a much better husband than he was a boyfriend.
Okay, so it turns out Rubisel also had a dog, Ladybug. I didn't even know until he moved in! He never mentioned it. Here she is:
Yep, she is invisible. She also has the destructive trait. If you look closely in my screenshot of the front of the house, you can see her actively shredding a newspaper. Here she is digging a hole:
This is a really big problem, because I can't click on her to scold her and teach her no. I tried using "resetsim" and I also turned the game off, but she didn't fix herself when I started it again. At this point I don't really know what to do and don't have the funds nor the desire to keep a dog that will destroy everything. So Marci put her up for adoption. Scout knows something is up.
Afterwards, she really doesn't feel great about having to do that. But anyway, here you can see the door I mentioned the ground floor screenshot did not have. This is the future living room and the archway leading into the foyer.
The guy shows up to take Ladybug away. I felt really bad about it. I mean, the sad music started to play and everything, and Rubisel sat out there and watched her go. She has her little thought bubble of her own picture, like she is wondering why we don't want her as she is taken away... I mean, it was super sad you guys. I hated it.
I thought Rubisel would be upset, but then he cheered!
Come on, Marci. We just got rid of a dog for this. Literally, you can still see the guy's car outside. This is why we don't have any furniture.
So I don't have a picture of it, but Marci completed her opportunity to write a drama. It wasn't a hard opportunity, as I mentioned in an earlier update, she had already been writing her drama, "Oar and Geese" and it really didn't take long to finish it and the opportunity. So now she has this one, which just popped up. It is her third and last to complete this portion of her dynasty requirements.
I find Karlie Goldberg sprinting up a hill in what appears to be her formal attire.
I thought Marci needed to talk to her to write her story (opportunity star in town map led straight to her), so I had her hop in a cab to meet this woman. When she got there, I discovered that is apparently not the case, she can just write the biography without knowing a single thing about this girl.
Marci: Well that was a waste of time. I feel stupid for arriving.Quick, rock paper scissors! Good cover.
Marci goes to the library to start this thing, which we title "Formal Running".
So life goes on. Rubisel takes up painting because I have nothing for him to do while Marci is at the library all the time. He is off work for a few days for his marriage.
(Still no lights in the house)
Funds slowly trickle in from book sales, the resort, and Rubisel's job. I still have Scout hunting as much as possible - I believe she is a level 10 hunter by now but I can't remember (I'm well ahead of this point in game right now). The next thing we buy is a row of kitchen counters. Yep, wood countertops. I am such a fan of those cuttingboard counters you see sometimes in real houses!
Marci: Bam!Marci: I can't believe I just did that, I'm so embarrassed.First painting sold for a whopping 37 simoleons!
