What prompts the "Have First Child with" wish?
« on: January 31, 2014, 09:53:10 PM »
Greetings Fellow Watchers, I'm wondering if anybody knows what I can do to trigger the Have First Child / Have Child With / Have Child wishes for my married couple of sims.  I know that I can get them to try for baby without the wish, but I'm sort of trying to get them to determine their own path on major life choices.  Thanks!

Family oriented trait definitely plays a part here. And possibly age/income/career level. Someone else might know more specifics. Seabody is good at finding out those kinds of things.

Having gotten married can prompt it and also having your sims be around kids/toddlers

Normally the wish Have Child appears exactly 7 days to the moment that your Sims get married.  :D

Huh, I never counted days - that's interesting to know.

I think marriage triggers it at some point, like childbirth triggers the "Get Married" wish. Also, for my Sims it sometimes pops when they sleep with their partner.

My sim got that wish when he was romancing a woman.
You know, like when he want to do the woohoo, the romance level keep raising from xx thinks you are flirty to alluring?

Yep, that is when the wish appear.

I've never been able to get unmarried sims to pop the wish, or find a way to encourage it.

Maybe the game is oldschool in approach and doesn't like unmarried pairs having children.
About the wishes popping up, if you have parent(s) of the sims under your control, they often trigger "become a grandparent" wish around the same time.

I've noticed that sims pop the wish for grandchildren almost immediately after seeing their child get married. Because what else would be on their mind? :P

I don't think so... I have ever played a sim who had been having affair with numbers of woman in the town and got them pregnant yet still don't pop a wish to get married or have a child.

My sims always wish to get married if they have a child out of wedlock. The only time they don't is if they have commitment issues.

It seems pretty spotty for me. Sometimes one partner gets the wish, sometimes neither do. Only in my most recent household have both spouses had a mutual wish to start a family. Then again, I play same-sex couples, and that may be a factor.

Also, only when both spouses have the wish have I gone ahead and adopted a kid. So I have a whole new frontier ahead of me, as of last Sunday evening. :)
