Tutoring time to get A
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:37:43 PM »
I have a sim whose child living outside their household and he had a wish to see the kid grown up well which means tutoring session for child or teen.
I know sims with logic level 5 above could tutor children, but how long does it take for the kid to get an A?

It will depend on if the sim tutoring has the teacher extraordinaire skill challenge in logic. If they do, it takes shorter time, but I don't know exactly how much.

Also, I'm unsure if you can tutor kids outside of the house hold and have it make an effect. I know you can tutor them, but I don't know if it raises their school performance.

It depends whether the tutor has the Teacher Extraordinaire challenge done. The last time I had a sim complete that challenge, I remember that he was able to get kids to an A in 6-8 hours. I've also heard that tutoring kids after they have finished their homework makes it quicker.

As for tutoring kids without that challenge done, it takes longer. I don't know how much longer.

So that means the kid outside of our household would never be able to get an A? If so, I need to cancelled his wish then...

No, I'm pretty sure that they can get an A. Once they get their grade to an A you can no longer tutor them, otherwise you could tutor them indefinitely. Your best bet would be to invite the sim over and help them with their homework. If you have a Moodlet Manager or a Motive Mobile, that would help to get them in a good mood. The better the mood, the faster their improvement, as mood is one of the metrics for performance increase. Not only that, they're less likely to need a toilet break halfway through. Then buy a birthday cake or age them up with an age of instant potion.

Good point Annika, I remember now that they loose the interaction after a while. It has simply been a long time since I played a logic sim.

I have a spare child in my house (he was an ex imaginary friend) and he was turned real late Friday, and Monday was the date of him (and the child that had him as an imaginary friend) to become teens. I had an adult who hadn't completed the skill challenge dealing with tutoring kids but who had a logic of 5 (it was Hannah Jones) tutor him, as I wanted to get him the chance to pick his own traits into teenager hood. He had family orientated, trait like Hannah, Hannah didn't have Genius trait or anything like that.

She started tutoring him on Saturday, it may have taken 4-6 hours to go to a B (he started right at the bottom), when I sent him off to play on the swings.

The next day I sent the whole family off to the park, and they engaged in further tutoring. It would have been about that long again, I think, and it was up to just below an A, I think, when I sent the family home. The next day, I sent him to school, he got an A and the chance to choose his teen trait. :)

Thx everyone. I'm glad I don't have to cancel his wish...
And thx for the informative news for me.
Since to be honest, I've had some logic sims before but never used any of them for tutoring and just started now.

Can someone confirm that this will work with a child outside the household?  I think that's part of the issue.

*sigh* The child had grown up finally, to a teen and my sim's wish hadn't disappear meant it wasn't fulfilled yet.
I've tutored the child for tenth hours and yet it didn't seems to raise their grade... It did raise their relationship a lot though.
