I would say no more than 6; previous heir and spouse, current heir and spouse, heir and spare. Otherwise, I could see it become an exercise in futility and frustration.

I say go the whole hog - fill up the household :D I love micro-living. It's an exercise in minimalism, and it tends to help you keep yourself from cluttering up the game too much. A friend of mine made a town of all 15x15 lots. It's not very polished, but I like the concept. I do think that you need to use CC rabbithole rugs though, otherwise it creates too many problems.

It has been a while since I stopped by. But I wanted to share my most recent lot that came about as a result of this thread and playing on a micro lot.

The lot has been played about half way through adult hood for one of the family members and seems to be a good compromise of space. Think the house could handle two kids even though I only had one going. Also have a little bit of a greenhouse attached as I seem to be addicted to gardening and the moodlets my sims get from good ingredients in their recipes.

It is up on the exchange here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/0/745721.page#11883554

And you can watch a youtube video of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQkZloB_81w

Very cool! I will have to try this myself.

I think it would be fun to design a micro-lot challenge.

Is it just my perception or do those brick section on the left hand side (facing house from street) pop out a little bit? Is it painted, or are they pieces of chimney (or something else)? Great job on a tiny lot!

I came up with an idea for a challenge, I wrote down some rules and I'm going to try to play it myself, see if it works out. If anyone wants to see the rules I came up with and work on it too let me know.

Thank you Jesirose and Annika.

Jesirose, definitely let us know how it goes.

Annika, those pieces on the left hand side are called "pattern display units" There are four of them put together on each story on that side. They are CC from TSR, I don't have the link or remember who made them, but I love using them for accents and depth on walls. They display one full pattern, so you can do some cool things with them. Not sure if CC like that and CC patterns transfer with the lot anymore or not. When I checked the export sims3pack in Custard I am not seeing them.

Jesirose, I can hardly wait to see what you come up with. Whatever it is, I'll give it a shot (as long as it doesn't include immortal elders).

I'm addicted to large lots, so this would be a challenge just in that aspect   ;D

It is an interesting concept.  My suggestion is that you get some rules, ideas from what you have created and maybe those posted here and check to see if a project could be started from it.  Most of the project stories, I think, have town jumping, but the idea of a floor for each generation, of finding a way to bring in a sim from another town, the heir has to go to another town, find a mate and bring him/her back to produce the next generation is something that I think would be fun to do.

I'm going to go over what you stated in your first post, what you set it up as and see if I can do that.  I can see me now, trying to not give into moving to a 50 x 50 or bigger lot for my family   :)
I may let myself start with a lot a bit bigger, say 15 x ? ? ?  to get an idea of what it would feel like to play in such a small lot.  Put a study and exercise room in the basement and the family lives in the floors above the basement.  MV has a lot of small lots and I really like that town.

Well, I did one tonight, just a quickie. I set it so that the dinner table can seat 5, but there's enough bedspace for 6 (7 if you're a masochist). It's up in the Swap Shop.

It cost a bit more than I'd anticipated, but I think it's mostly decorative - ditch those, everything should be good.

:) Thanks. Haven't tested the playability of it yet, and I'm sure there are other ways to improve on it, but I figured start simple.

I always play in 20x30 lots as a rule (I can't handle a lot of space), so the idea of a 10x10 lot would be a great challenge for me. I'll have a wee try at building something and test it later tonight. Great idea!
